LatAm Cup Women’s Recap

Meza clocked all top-three finishes heading into the final event of the day, but was still only 30 points above four-time CrossFit Games athlete Paulina Haro on the overall leaderboard. And with her speed on the handstand walks in Event 5, Haro was able to stay ahead. She absolutely blazed through the workout, ending with a huge and deserved smile.

Still, it wasn’t enough to overcome Meza’s immense consistency throughout the weekend, especially with her heroic second-place finish in the last and final event.

Meza was crowned the first LatAm Cup women’s champ, with fellow Mexican athlete Haro taking second and Brazil’s Emily Andrade (who took sixth place at the 2023 CrossFit South American Semifinal) rounding out the podium.

LatAm Cup Men’s Recap

On the men’s side, Alejandro Trillos — 2019’s Fittest Teen in Colombia — came out on top. Trillos also put up a very consistent weekend, with the fifth and final event being his worst-place finish (sixth). He came in third and fourth in Events 1 and 2, respectively, but he dominated the middle of the competition. Trillos finished first in both parts of Event 3 and in Event 4.

Vinicius Stoelben, hailing from Brazil, took second overall with two event wins. He secured his spot on the podium with a solid start and end to his weekend, winning both the first and last event in style.

Roldan Goldbaum took that final podium spot without any event wins but with a relatively consistent performance throughout the weekend. The Mexican athlete took fifth place worldwide in the 2023 CrossFit Open.
