Sept. 18, 2023, elite CrossFitter Brooke Wells announced on her Instagram page that she is switching CrossFit teams from Shane Orr’s PRVN — the team of six-time Fittest Woman on Earth® Tia-Clair Toomey — to five-time Fittest Man on Earth® Mat Fraser’s Hard Work Pays Off (HWPO).

Grateful for all this journey…ready for the next chapter. Very excited for what’s to come this season with HWPO.
In the video accompanying her announcement, Wells can be seen performing ring muscle ups, wall balls, rowing, burpees, and overhead dumbbell lunges. Check it out below:

Wells’ 2023 CrossFit season was fruitful through the Semifinals. She ranked sixth worldwide in the 2023 CrossFit Open, fifth in the 2023 CrossFit Quarterfinals (a virtual competition), and qualified for the 2023 North America East Semifinal. However, a 14th-place rank at that competition was not enough to qualify for the 2023 CrossFit Games — it was the first time she failed to reach CrossFit’s biggest stage since her debut in 2015.

HWPO Adds Another Elite Athlete
Wells has positioned herself as a mainstay amongst female CrossFit Games athletes. In her competitive eight-year career, Wells has ranked in the top 10 at the CrossFit games four times (2016, 2018, 2020, 2022). Her highest career rank is fifth place (2020 and 2022).

Wells withdrew from the 2021 CrossFit Games after suffering a devastating elbow injury during the max snatch event that led to reconstructive surgery. Her time on the PRVN team saw her rebound to a fifth-place finish at the Games one year later. The 2023 PRVN team for the CrossFit Games included Andrea Nisler, Taylor Williamson, Tola Morakinyo, and Tim Paulson.

Wells’ move to the HWPO roster will place her among the ranks of two-time Fittest Woman Katrin Davi?ðsdo?ttir, Jayson Hopper, Mal O’Brien, Amanda Barnhart, Thur Helgadottir, and Sam Kwant at Fraser’s private training facility in Burlington, VT. Wells hopes the team swap will enable her to make a substantial impact on the 2024 CrossFit Games and score the podium finish that has thus far eluded her.
