The 2023 Musclecontest International Philippines Pro Men’s Physique show is slated for Saturday, Oct. 21, 2023, in Subic Bay, Philippines. Seven IFBB Pro League competitors representing five countries will compete for the win, securing a qualification to compete in the 2024 Men’s Physique Olympia contest. Joven Sagabain
Sagabain won the 2023 Tokyo Pro to qualify for the 2023 Men’s Physique Olympia in Orlando, FL, on Nov. 2-5, 2023. This show could help him gauge his progress and receive feedback from judges as he prepares to make his second Olympia appearance.
If Sagabain wins this show, he will enjoy a longer off-season with his 2024 qualification secured. He is one of two competitors from the host country in this show, and the limited travel could serve him well.
Bum Su Park
Bum Su Park has not competed on a pro stage since 2021 but placed in the top 10 of the two shows he did that year. He ranked second in the Asia Grand Prix Pro to winner Bong Seok Choi and eighth in the Monsterzym Pro. Even though he has limited pro experience, the smaller roster should be advantageous for him.
Khrisna Purnama Putra
Khrisna Purnama Putra competed as a Classic Physique and Men’s Physique athlete in his amateur career. He found his footing in the latter division as a pro. The rookie placed fourth in the 2023 Korea AGP Pro show on Oct. 7, 2023, and ninth in the 2023 Tokyo Pro. Being a part of a smaller lineup means more attention will be paid to each athlete; how he handles that will likely determine his placing.
Other Notes
This competition is one of four Men’s Physique shows taking place on the same weekend. The 2023 Moe’s Muscle New Zealand Pro is set in Auckland, New Zealand, the 2023 Fitness Authority Poland Muscle Fest Pro will be hosted in Warsaw, Poland, and the 2023 Hurricane Pro will be held in St. Petersburg, FL.
