Women’s Bodybuilding Athletes to Watch
Below are household names in the bodybuilding world and are likely to contend in first callouts:
Andrea Shaw
Andrea Shaw is the defending champion and the early favorite to win the 2023 Rising Phoenix title. She’s on a quest to four-peat in this show as well as the Ms. Olympia contest. She’s already won the most Rising Phoenix titles since the contest was created in 2015, but adding that fourth title would pad her legacy as an all-time great.
Angela Yeo
Yeo was the runner-up to Shaw at the 2022 Ms. Olympia contest in Las Vegas, NV, and was the 2022 Chicago Pro winner. This will be Yeo’s 2023 season debut, and many fans hope that she gives Shaw a run for her money. Yeo, a former Women’s Physique competitor, has been quiet about her training this season, which makes her appearance in this show all the more exciting.
Michaela Aycock
Unlike Shaw and Yeo, Michaela Aycock has already competed twice in 2023. She won the 2023 Tampa Pro and was the runner-up at the 2023 Lenda Murray Atlanta Pro. Aycock doesn’t need to win this show to qualify for the Ms. Olympia, but it would give her some incredible momentum in the last month of Olympia prep.
