Men’s Physique Athletes to Watch

Below are three athletes like to contend in the first callouts for the Men’s Physique division:

Charjo Grant

Charjo Grant finished fourth in the 2022 Men’s Physique Olympia, one spot shy of automatically qualifying for the 2023 Olympia. He has to win a show to earn that ticket to Orlando before Oct. 9, 2023. He is considered a favorite to win this show thanks to his experience and success on previous pro stages.

Clarence McSpadden Jr.

Clarence McSpadden Jr. has finished in the top five of all three contests he has entered this season. His highest placing was second at the 2023 Texas Pro in August. The second-year pro seeks his first career win and Olympia qualification.

McSpadden Jr. doesn’t have the mass that Grant has, but McSpadden Jr. has entered every show ripped from head to toe. The matchup will be interesting if the judges compare them side by side.

Dajuan Rico Freeman

Dajuan Rico Freeman is coming off a third-place finish at the 2023 Masters Olympia, which offers him momentum heading into this contest. Even though he will face Open athletes, he showed he can hold his own with conditioning and symmetry. Don’t be surprised if he ends up in the final callout.

Bikini Division Athletes to Watch

The athletes below are likely favorites to reach first callouts and contend for the Bikini podium.

Jourdanne Lee

Jourdanne Lee is a favorite in the Bikini division in her 2023 season debut. She ranked 11th in the 2022 Bikini Olympia. This starts her sixth pro campaign; she already has seven pro wins to her credit. If she wins this show, that would give her six weeks to prepare for the Olympia.

Lizzie Martinez

This is Lizzie Martinez’s ninth pro show of the season. Her best finish was a runner-up effort in the 2023 Chicago Pro. Only winners qualify for the 2023 Olympia; she has until the Olympia qualification cutoff on Oct. 9, 2023, to win a pro show.

Ndeye Ndour

Ndeye Ndour has shown promise in her rookie season. She ranked fourth in the 2023 Janet Layug Battle of the Bodies show, and her best outing so far was third place at the 2023 World Klash Pro. While she has the potential to be a star in the division, going up against competitors like Lee and Martinez is a major test.
