Athletes to Watch
Below are three athletes likely to compete against each other in first callouts:
Jacqueline Huescas Rios
None of the competitors on this roster have qualified for the Olympia going into the contest, but Jacqueline Huescas Rios has Olympia experience. She was 11th in the 2022 Wellness Olympia. This will be her first contest of the 2023 season. She has until Oct. 9, 2023 to qualify for the Olympia. So, winning this show would give her close to two months to prepare for the big show in Orlando. Her experience could help her when she faces the judges in the prejudging round of the show.
Diana Laura Verduzco Carreno
Diana Laura Verduzco Carreno was fourth in the 2023 Texas Pro, a little over 500 miles north of this show. Marissa Andrews won the Texas Pro show. Carreno was also fourth in the 2022 Texas Pro competition. According to NPC News Online, since turning pro in 2021, Verduzco Carreno never competed outside of the Lone Star State. F
ollowing this show, there are only four Wellness contests before the Olympia qualifying cutoff date of Oct. 9, 2023. Only one, the 2023 Heart of Texas Pro on Sept. 9, 2023, will be in Texas.
