The 2023 Rising Phoenix and Arizona Pro event in Chandler, AZ, has become an annual women’s bodybuilding tradition since it began in 2015. The 2023 edition featured all six IFBB Pro League women’s divisions on Saturday, Sept. 30, and the finale of the evening was Andrea Shaw crowned as Rising Phoenix champion for the fourth time.
Other winners in the Arizona Pro portion of the show included Alex Hall (Women’s Physique), Stephanie Jones (Fitness), Rhea Gayle (Figure), Iluia Baba (Bikini), and Andrea Hrenko (Wellness).

Rising Phoenix Winner — Andrea Shaw
Shaw was the reigning three-time champion of the Rising Phoenix and Ms. Olympia contests. Her goal for 2023 was to win her fourth consecutive title in both competitions; she is halfway there. The Michigan native, Shaw, has her sights set on Orlando, FL, at the 2023 Olympia Weekend on Nov. 2-5, 2023, where she intends to claim her fourth Ms. Olympia title.
Angela Yeo improved from her appearance in this show one year ago, but so did Shaw, and the judges felt Shaw was the winner with all first-place votes.
Women’s Physique Winner — Alex Hall
Alex Hall made her first appearance of the 2023 season at this show and pulled a surprise victory to qualify for the 2023 Women’s Physique Olympia. The second-year pro ranked seventh in this contest in 2022. A pair of South Korean competitors, Ji Hye Lee and Yuna Kim, took second and third, respectively.
Fitness Winner — Stephanie Jones
Stephanie Jones ranked second in the Physique round of the FItness competition and won the Routine round, which counts for two-thirds of the overall score. As a result, she won the Fitness title in Arizona. Corina Harkelroad ranked as the runner-up, and third place went to Kristin Pope. Jones scored the qualification to compete in the 2023 Fitness Olympia.

Figure Winner — Rhea Gayle
Gayle was coming off a runner-up finish in the 2023 San Antonio Pro and needed a win to qualify for the 2023 Olympia. The six-year veteran got there and can reset her sights on Orlando, where she aims to improve upon her 12th-place finish from the 2022 Figure Olympia. Shanice Abrams took second, and rounding out the top three was Paula Rojo.
Bikini Winner — Iulia Baba
Iulia Baba claimed her first win of the 2023 season in her fifth contest. She joins runner-up Reijuana Harley and third-place finisher Daraja Hill on the list of qualified athletes on the 2023 Bikini Olympia roster. If Baba competes at the Olympia, it will be her debut.
Wellness Winner — Andrea Hrenko
The Wellness division featured 28 competitors. Andrea Hrenko secured her first pro win and Olympia qualification. Runner-up Mariha Lyons and third-place finisher Rona Benadero Munoz were only separated by one point.
