Individual Women Recap — “Pig Chipper”
Olivia Kerstetter and Ellie Turner appeared to take the initial lead flipping their respective pigs in heat one. Kerstetter was the first to the pull-ups, joined shortly thereafter by Sydney Wells.
Wells claimed the lead in the toes-to-bar but couldn’t hold off Flores (formerly Shadburne), who reached the wall balls first. Wells and Flores traded the lead back and forth while nearly 10 reps ahead of the rest of the field until Kerstetter worked back into the mix for the lead.
Wells was the first athlete to return to the pull-up bar for toes-to-bars. Flores’ flexibility on the toes-to-bar made up for the lost time in the wall balls as Flores could touch her toes to the bar from a near-dead hang rather than swing.
Baylee Rayl and Emily Rolfe worked their way back into the fight for first as Wells fell out of the mix. Flores walked back to the pig first, but Rayl kept the pace and scored the first flip. Kerstetter’s strength is her forte, and she overtook the lead once reaching her last round of pig flips and kept it to win the heat.

In heat two, Horvath was the first to reach the pull-up bar. Gazan, Kolenbrander, and Thorisdottir were in the mix for the lead through the toes-to-bar. Notably, Thorisdottir is the only athlete on the women’s roster to compete at the CrossFit Games in three different decades; she reached the wall balls first.
Emma Cary finished in last place in event one and needed a big finish to move up the leaderboard. She overtook the lead on the wall balls, going toss for toss with Thorisdottir. They moved together back to the pull-up bars.
Cary hit her final chest-to-bar pull-ups first halfway past the 10-minute mark and walked alone to the final round of pig flips. She scored a single flip before Thorisdottir joined her on the field.
Cary failed her second rep on the pig flip, leaving the door open for Horvath to take the lead and overall win out of nowhere. Loewen and Raptis blitzed through their flips to take the podium in the second event.

Individual Men Recap — “Pig Chipper”
Semenov was the first through the pig flips in heat one for the men. Cerveny stayed on his tail to the pull-up bar and traded the lead with Semenov in the toes-to-bar.
Chandler Smith and Spencer Panchik moved into the mix for the lead during the pig flips, knowing that the last round of pig flips would likely determine the outcome of the heat. Panchik overtook the lead and was the first to the wall ball shots.
Cervany and Smith stayed within range of Panchik to lead the heat, but Panchik was the first to leave the pull-up bars for his last round of pig flips. He got to work after just 20 seconds of rest.
Gudmundsson emerged from the pull-up bars second to take on his last round of pig flips. It didn’t appear easy, but Panchik was consistent enough to hold the lead and win the heat.

In heat two, the entire field stayed relatively tight through the opening pig flips. Fiebig was the first to the pull-up bars thanks to power cleaning his final few flips, but the lead was narrow.
Khrennikov took over the lead once he got to work on his chest-to-bar pull-ups. Medeiros had not yet seemed to fully recover from his two falls during event one, which lead to a 29th-place finish before event two.
Khrennikov was first to the wall balls and wasted no time before throwing his first toss. Lazar ?uki? was Khrennikov’s closest rival, though a handful of reps behind. Khrennikov and ?uki? were seconds apart by their back-half toes-to-bars.
Vellner mounted his first signs of offense during his second round of toes-to-bar. Medeiros was the last athlete to make it through the wall balls, suggesting something was amiss.

Khrennikov, Hopper, ?uki?, and Vellner fought in the final round of pig flips for the heat win at the 13-minute mark. Khrennikov found his rhythm and dropped the final rep before crossing the line for the overall. event win.
Closing Out Individuals’ Opening Day
The last event scheduled for the Individuals on their first day of competition is the “Inverted Medley,” which will challenge each athlete’s gymnastic skills with a lot of time on their hands.
