All Hail The Persian Wolf:
Mr. Olympia Hadi Choopan

By Steve Blechman

When Hadi Choopan won the Sandow at the 2022 Olympia Weekend, it was a cause for celebration for millions of bodybuilding fans around the world as well as the reigning Mr. Olympia. Hadi’s victory was the culmination of years of struggle to overcome obstacles and his win proved that patience, hard work, persistence and dedication pay off. Mr. Olympia Hadi Choopan is a champion in every sense of the word, and we are honored to showcase his fortitude and rise to the pinnacle of bodybuilding by featuring him on the cover of this month’s Muscular Development.

Hadi had the best combination of size, structure, shape and conditioning on the 2022 Mr. Olympia stage, and he now holds that same vaunted title earned in decades past by legends like Sergio, Arnold, Haney, Dorian, Ronnie and Jay. As Hadi’s coach, Hany Rambod, said: “They chose who they thought had the best physique onstage. I want to thank Mr. Jim Manion, the whole IFBB Pro League, the judges, Steve Weinberger, Jake Wood, Dan Solomon and everyone who supports bodybuilding to have someone come from so far away and fulfill his dream.” Read Hadi’s incredible story in “The Persian Wolf Victorious! Hadi Choopan Is Your New Mr. Olympia.”

Women’s Bodybuilding seemed to be fading off into the sunset not long ago. That was until Olympia and Wings of Strength owner Jake Wood brought the sport back and breathed new life into it. A new champion has emerged in the form of Andrea Shaw, who has won not only the Ms. Olympia but also the Rising Phoenix contest for the last three consecutive seasons. MD’s Ron Harris spoke with Andrea after another convincing Olympia victory to find out more about this Mutant athlete who is clearly the best and most dominant female bodybuilder in the world right now. “Women’s Bodybuilding is alive and well and I plan to help it grow,” she tells MD in “Andrea Shaw: 3X Ms. Olympia Is Building Her Legacy!”

Samson Dauda was one of the biggest talking points of 2022, placing an impressive sixth in his Mr. Olympia debut and fourth at the Arnold Classic. Rarely do bodybuilding fans see a 300-pound physique like Samson’s, with aesthetics and a small waist. Samson will be a serious threat at this year’s Arnold Classic, as his coach Milos Sarcev tells MD, “This is the guy that is going to be super hard to deal with in Columbus.” Giles Thomas gives readers the complete picture in “Samson Dauda: Most Improved Bodybuilder of 2022!”

“My lawyers told me I had nothing to worry about. They said you’re not a target. Then when I got indicted in 2019, it came as a total surprise,” Redcon1 CEO and founder Aaron Singerman tells MD this month. Some in the industry were surprised that this hardworking businessman and successful entrepreneur, and devoted father of three served jail time. “You can come out of prison a much better person if you choose to. Most people don’t see it as an opportunity to better yourself. They feel self-pity, anger, or both. I had to accept that this was where I was, and maybe I could somehow use the experience to become a better husband, father, leader or businessman. That’s what I focused on for 11 months,” Aaron tells Ron Harris in an exclusive interview, “Redcon Rising! Aaron Singerman Reflects on His Wild Journey.” Aaron’s story will also be detailed as part of his new book Redcon Rising, which tells how he built Redcon1, one of the fastest-growing sports supplement companies in history.

Bodybuilders have heard this a million times: “Contests are won from the back.” This doesn’t mean that bodybuilding is judged on who has the best back. Rather, it refers to the fact that especially at local and regional contests, you tend to see a lot of well-developed shoulders, chests, arms and often the quads, but the posterior chain, meaning the back, glutes and hamstrings, lags significantly in comparison. Even at a large regional show, it’s rare that to see more than a handful of impressive backs. You don’t have to step onstage to suffer from this physique imbalance. Plenty of guys who don’t compete look big and jacked from the front because they have some muscle in the chest, shoulders and arms, but from the back they literally look half the size. Ron Harris offers some very useful tips to increase the productivity of your back workouts for a wider and thicker back in “Back Hacks! 9 Tips for Wider, Thicker Wings.”
