Arimistane: Is the Hype Real?
By: 3J
If there is anything in the world I scrutinize with a critical eye, its claims of some new compound that the pro hormone industry markets. Its not that the pro hormone industry hasn’t put out some amazing products over the years that actually have very anabolic effects, its that there are many out there that haven’t had studies done to back up their outlandish claims. So when I heard about Arimistane and its supposed strong ability to reduce estrogen levels in a OTC legal format, I was both excited and suspicious, especially when they put a twist on the aromasin name to make it sound even better. Imagine, legally getting your hands on a compound that is effective enough to control your estrogen on cycle without a doctor or having to go the ugl route!
Ok, What is it?
Arimistane is the metabolite of 7-Keto DHEA (Androsta-3,5-diene-7,17-dione) for you chemistry geeks out there. It doesn’t convert to testosterone or estrogen because it is non-steroidal. The claim is that arimistane is suicide aromatase inhibitor that permanently binds to the aromatase enzyme, preventing the conversion of estrogen from testosterone. Claims are made that arimistane can reduce cortisol, raise LH (luteinizing hormone) levels which have a direct correlation with testosterone production, and increase testosterone levels in the natural bodybuilder thanks to higher LH levels.
Controlling estrogen levels is a main concern of anyone who is on cycle. The aromatase enzyme will cause conversion of testosterone to estrogen, robbing the body of that testosterone and causing unwanted side effects like bloat, acne, and possible gynecomastia. These are all things the steroid user wants to avoid. Usually the use of a SERM or AI like nolvadex, arimidex, or aromasin will take care of this problem well. The only issue is that these drugs are Rx only and we have to resort to the black market if we cant get a doc to agree with the use of them.
Here is the MAJOR issue with arimistane: There are absolutely zero scientific studies out there to prove any of its effects on the body. This doesn’t outright debunk the claims that the compound works, but we only have broscience found on the forums to go by. After doing some research on the forums, ive found nothing but mixed reviews on the matter. Some said that using 50mg daily started causing joint issues (a common side effect of low estrogen levels) and others that said the compound did nothing for their estrogen levels. I scoured the internet looking for, at the least, labs that would show proof that someones estrogen levels were under control on cycle or too low off cycle causing a rise in testosterone levels with no luck. To put it bluntly, there just isn’t enough data out there that is reliable to come to a conclusion about this product.
So, if you want to try this product I recommend you take labs before the use of it, run it for 2 weeks, and take labs again to see where your estrogen levels are. If you see the product is working for you, GREAT! Please feel free to share your experiences with us so we can be better informed!
