Belt and knee wraps?

So, how about it? Do you use a belt and/or knee wraps?

I used to when I was younger. I had the idea back then tjat the belt would prevent lower back injury, which I discovered was not the case. Now, I don't use either. I increase weight slowly, as a general rule, and I figure if "the rest of me" (meaning my knees and back) can't handle whatever weight, then I don't need to ne lifting it.

That said, I'm in the mid to upper 300's on my heaviest lifts, just about to break 400 in the squat. I'm not deadlifting 700 lbs or anuthing, and I think it's unlikely I ever will.

Belts and knee wraps are great... when used properly. The issue is that most people use them as a crutch instead of an aid. A belt should not be added until you get to around 80% of your max at the very minimum. As for knee wraps it depends on the wraps. Some are to just keep the knees warm and provide a small amount of rebound out of the hole. A more extreme knee wrap should only really be used when preparing for a powerlifting meet or maximal effort. It is better to build up your base then use these "tools" as a means to further progress while ensuring you do not injure yourself not as a crutch to help you barely get by and risk severe injury.
