So who doesn't want to be strong? Exactly, well a few years ago I decided to get my shit together and find a lifting program that would finally help me build the strength I was looking for as a powerlifter. I needed something that was simple enough to follow with the ability to throw in my own variations yet still kick my ass and have me wanting to come back the next day and kill it even harder. After months of research I found something that fit the bill and gave it a try and boy oh boy was i in for a surprise. The program is called Beyond 5/3/1 and is a spinoff on wendlers original 5/3/1. You can find the PDF download here http://www.berserkbarbell.com/2013/07/beyond-531-spreadsheet-calculator.html. I would follow this and basically add in my own bodybuilding program afterwards to finish of each muscle group used that day. For example after bench day i would continue to bench but very close grip for sets of 8, then dips, then cable flys. Incase you're wondering what joker sets are, they're basically determined by you so if its 5% and your last set is 300lbs then you increase the weight by 15 every set until you either fail or cannot go up 15 again. I would do this and utilize my slingshot for bench and knee wraps for squats once i stalled to get another 2-3 sets more. I would usually get 3-5 joker sets then you have to drop your weight back to your first sets weight and do a amrap. Anyone who thinks this program is a joke must try it first. My friend who had just finished smolov continued to add 45 lbs on his squat AFTER A PEAKING PROGRAM using this!
