Betting on the Browns: Vegas is cashing in on team’s massive hype
Updated Apr 30, 2019 By Troy L. Smith, Cleveland.com
In February, the Browns lit up Vegas betting sites with impressive 22 to 1 odds the team could win the Super Bowl in 2020.
No doubt that was a result of Baker Mayfield’s record-setting rookie season and the Browns winning five of last seven games. But if you thought 22 to 1 felt like a stretch, current odds show Browns hype reaching its absolute peak.
Following the Odell Beckham Jr. trade, the Browns sit at 14 to 1. That makes them a Top-10 favorite, in the mix with teams like the Chicago Bears, Green Bay Packers, Los Angeles Chargers and Indianapolis Colts.
CG Technology Sportsbooks, which operates seven sportsbooks at six resorts in Las Vegas, says the Browns are their second most bet-on Super Bowl pick, behind only the Bears in number of tickets. Meanwhile, the Browns trail only the Bears, Chiefs and Patriots in terms of total money placed on an individual team this offseason.
