Betaine is a supplement that is made from the amino acid glycine and is starting to become more widely used in supplements, but what does it do?
-
We know betain can decrease cortisol & lactic acid, but it can also increase anabolic hormones such as IGF-1 and even increase your training volume.
-
There is also some evidence to support betain's ability to resynthesize creatine resulting in more strength, increase nitric oxide in the blood for greater pumps, and maintain cell hydration during intense exercise to prevent cramping.
-
Research shows that betaine has the ability to increase training volume through the mechanisms discussed above. Therefore, it may be a great supplement to add to your arsenal to increase muscle gains. 2.5g prior to training should do the trick!
