Powerlifter Brianny Terry has made women’s powerlifting history by pulling the heaviest deadlift, not only in her 75-kilogram weight class but of any female ever in a raw sanctioned meet. Terry competed at the 2023 WRPF American Pro 2 in Manassas, VA, on Sunday, Oct. 29, as part of the primetime lineup in the raw with wraps category.

Terry’s final deadlift was 291 Kilograms (641.6 Pounds) — breaking Sara Schiff’s previous raw record for the heaviest pull ever by half a kilogram. Schiff had deadlifted 290.5 kilograms at the 2023 FQ Classic in May 2023. Check out Terry’s historic lift below, courtesy of the livestream on the WRPF YouTube channel:

Terry approached the barbell with a sumo stance and a serious look on her face, knowing the history riding on her attempt. She used a mixed grip while wearing a headband, a singlet, and a weight belt.

Once Terry began the pull, it took nearly 10 seconds for her to reach lockout. Following a brief hold, she received the down command from the head judge. After a dramatic pause, she saw three white lights and realized the all-time world record was hers.

Terry went seven for nine on the day overall across the squat, bench press, and deadlift. Her heaviest deadlift replaced Kristy Hawkins’ previous 75-kilogram raw deadlift world record of 277 kilograms (611.7 pounds). This was the eighth world record and fifth deadlift record to fall at the American Pro 2.

Despite her new record, Terry finished the meet fifth overall in the Best Lifter standings. Hawkins won the Best Lifter award and broke Marianna Gasparyan’s all-time best DOTS score with a score of 711.18. Terry’s best lifts can be seen below:

  • Bench Press —140 kilograms (308.7 pounds)

2023 has been quite the year for Terry. In July, she earned her IFBB Pro League Women’s Physique pro card at the 2023 NPC USA Championships. There is no word on what she will do next in either powerlifting or bodybuilding. She told interviewer Garrett Fear that she was ready to celebrate her latest accomplishment.
