[h=1]Brooke Ence is Returning to CrossFit Competition in 2020[/h]
[h=2]After taking time to work on her businesses and rehab injuries, Ence is back.[/h]
In popular culture, Brooke Ence may be one of the better known CrossFit® athletes, due in part to her well publicized appearance in the Wonder Woman movie, the time she competed against Mattie Rogers and Dana Linn Bailey in the excellent Brute Strength Women’s Showdown, and the fact that she has more Instagram followers than Tia-Clair Toomey.
But she hasn’t actually been competing at a high level in CrossFit for some time. The first and last time the 30-year-old went to the Games was in 2015 (she placed 14th), and she skipped the Open last year after placing 77th worldwide in 2018.
We should note she herniated some discs in 2017 and had surgery for a spinal fusion, so she needed to slow down her training. She qualified for Regionals in 2018, but decided to drop out after experiencing chronic shoulder pain.
But she’s back! In a new video she posted titled New Year, New Brooke, she announced that she’s competing in the 2020 CrossFit Games season.

Meanwhile she’s also working on her online training program, her skincare line, her clothing line, and more, so Ence has her hands full in 2020. There’s no word yet on which Sanctionals she’ll be competing in, but we wish her the best of luck in the upcoming season.

I’ve been reminded many times so far, that I’m 30. Everyone’s like, ‘Brooke, you’re thirty. No wonder you’re sore! You’re not gonna recover as fast or the same way you used to!’
… and taking it easy on her left shoulder to avoid re-injuring it. But it’s a great, positive video that really focuses on the fact that she’s excited to train hard, lift with old friends, and enjoy the experience without expectations.
