Just read this breaking article and wanted to share:

Bumble Bee Foods has announced that the San Diego-based company is recalling tens of thousands of tuna cans because of "life-threatening" contamination that was found.
The company announced Thursday that it is voluntarily recalling three specific UPC codes of canned Chunk Light tuna because of deviations that occurred in a co-pack facility not owned or operated by Bumble Bee.
These deviations were part of the commercial sterilization process and could result in contamination by spoilage organisms or pathogens, which could lead to "life-threatening illness if consumed," according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
There have been no reports of illness associated with these products to date. No other production codes or products are affected by this recall, according to an FDA release.
There are a total of 31,579 cases that are included in the recall, which were produced in February 2016 and distributed nationally.
The products subject to this recall are marked with a can code that starts with a "T" (example: TOA2BSCAFB) and have the following "best by" dates:
5oz Bumble Bee Chunk Light Tuna in Water, Best by Dates: 02/10/2019, 02/16/2019, 02/17/2019, 02/18/2019, 02/22/2019, 02/23/2019, 02/25/2019
5oz Bumble Bee Chunk Light Tuna in Oil, Best by Dates: 02/23/2019
Pack of 5oz Bumble Bee Chunk Light Tuna in Water, Best by Dates: 02/9/2019, 02/10/2019, 02/22/2019, 02/29/2019

Please do! Yeah, I prefer the packets, myself but I don't know how many here eat canned, so please be safe and check your can codes/dates if you have bumble bee tuna cans!

The scary part is that Safeway (under multiple store chains) has bumble bee on sale this week. I wonder if they checked their stock....

i hate tune, love albacore but wouldnt touch bumble bee right now if it were free

Bumble Bee at one time was great. In the last 5 or more years it has really just sucked. The only tuna I would buy is albacore from Traders Joes. Bumble Bee is not fit for my dogs, I would give it to stray cats though.

I'm hear lots of no-go's on canned tuna, am I missing something or is it just personal preference??

For me it's mostly because I prefer the flavor of the low-sodium packets to the cans since they don't taste like metal, plus it's more convenient and less of a chance I'm going to paint my walls red with a defective can.

never tried the pouches of tuna, everyone says they are delicious compared to having to squeeze a can.are the tuna bags or pouches oily , wet , dry?

The pouches are "no drain" but have a tiny bit of water to keep them moist but you just tear them open and toss them when you're done. My favorite are the Starkist low sodium, as they seem to have the least amount of sodium and are a decent size. The Kroger ones aren't a bad alternative, but they're a bit smaller.
