On Friday, Conor McGregor shared a picture and message on Instagram, demonstrating how he expects to beat his rival when they meet in a trilogy bout on at UFC 264 on July 10 at a location still to be determined.
The call? McGregor by fourth-round knockout.
“The prediction is in!” McGregor wrote. “I’m going to win the trilogy fight via a front kick to the nose. Round number 4. His nose needs straightenin’ and I’m rhinoplasty.”
The Poirier-McGregor series currently sits at one win apiece, with McGregor defeating Poirier by first-round TKO in a featherweight bout at UFC 178 in September 2014, and Poirier avenging that loss with a second-round TKO victory in their rematch at lightweight at UFC 257 this past January. A trilogy bout was immediately discussed in the aftermath of that bout by Poirier, McGregor, and UFC President Dana White.
In recent weeks, McGregor has been in full hype mode for the July 10 matchup, boasting that he will “absolutely f*cking destroy” Poirier and challenging Poirier to “meet in the middle” of the octagon on fight night.
