Conversions

I know this should be in the conversions section, but none of you post there....lol.

Anyone used/worked with whatman filters before?

Was doing a conversion and they keep appearing to 'blow out'. All jokes aside, is that possible? I have done this and other conversions before with no problem.

Did it to 2 of them.
The 2nd one appeared to have blown as juice flowed through it like water. But then appeared to start "filtering" again. Kinda weird huh? Maybe just a set of bunk filters? They came together in the same kit.

Just wondering if anyone knows about this. Got replacements on the way.

where they whatmans? most filters cannot take pressure, or PSI's that are high.
They just order filters, and dont check specs and properties of chemical compatibility as well.

I have seen some split filtering items like tren with glue binders in it and pressing hard, with venting a sealed vial.

this will cause backpressure and crack the seal on the filter, also damage and heat during shipping can too.

I guess there were several factors so who really knows, but most companies dont look into those things, ask many questions about the products you order, they might not even be the sterile filters, or maybe they dont know the PSI rating

well that beats my explanation, lol, strider is the man to ask about this shit if anyone, did you have to pay for ur replacements or did the company send them free

a lot of the kits come with whatmans. the explanation i've heard is they become "clogged" in which case a new one should be used (some say they can be cleaned but i wouldn't trust it). this is why the kit sellers that come with whatmans often come with at least two and often they sell whatmans separately just in case you need more (and they are a bit pricey when purchasing just a few at a time).

strider....what kind of filters are preferable for conversions?

every filter has choice of a different membrane. they have a compatability rating if they withstand what chemical you will put through them or not.

there are so many but if you ask the right questions then you get the right answers.

conversions you mean for chromatography research right? like ba, orr bb, or prop glyc or peg 400,200 etc?
