Dana White: UFC 262 sells out ‘in minutes’ with 17,000 fans expected in Houston

White took to social media on Friday to announce that UFC 262, which is set to take place May 15 at the Toyota Center in Houston, has “sold out in minutes” with 17,000 tickets off the market.

The UFC recently announced that the promotion’s April PPV event UFC 261 also sold out in a matter of minutes and eclipsed the biggest gate in the history of the VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville, Fla.
The UFC’s May pay-per-view offering is expected to crown a new lightweight champion as Charles Oliveira and Michael Chandler will square off following the official retirement of most recent titleholder Khabib Nurmagomedov. Chandler, a former Bellator lightweight champion, makes his second octagon appearance after his stunning first-round KO win over Dan Hooker at UFC 257 in January.
Oliveira enters his first title opportunity on an eight-fight winning streak, which includes a dominant unanimous decision win over former interim champion Tony Ferguson in December at UFC 256.
The co-main event will also make history as Leon Edwards will face Nate Diaz in the first five-round, non-title co-main event in UFC history. Ferguson will also compete on the card as he takes on surging contender Beneil Dariush.
UFC 262 will be the UFC’s return to the Toyota Center in a little over a year as the arena played host to UFC 247 in February 2020; Jon Jones defeated Dominick Reyes via unanimous decision in the main event.
