Deadlift Variations - Straight Legged , Romanian , Sumo

In my routine I am planning on doing straight legged deadlifts , my main question is when doing the straight legged deadlifts do you have your legs locked , or bent slightly.

Also , foot placement when doing straight legged deadlifts , do you place feet close together , shoulder width , or wide.

What are the pros / cons of having different feet placement when doing the straight legged deadlifts since the weak point of romanian is back , and weak point of sumo is quads. But since the legs are stationary , is there any difference at all.

All input on ANYTHING about deadlifts greatly appreciated , suggestions , advice , and tips.

I do deadlifts with shoulder width. If your feet are to close you shift more stress to the knee not good for the tendons. The movement in a compound exersice to many people worry about angles to build up weak area on the muscle, over rated.Compound exersice hits the whole muscle.Sumo put more stress on the lower back so don't go as heavy.

So in your opinion , normal shoulder width , what are the disadvantages.

And do you have any input on straight legged deadlifts. So far my choice is , shoulder width straight legged

bro dont lock your legs you may pass out and if you are useing stiff leg to hit hammys then keep them slightly bent and as you are comring up be sure to use your hams not your lower back and at the top i always squeeze my hams and glutes as hard ass i can.

I try to do neither as my back and hams would break if I over do it. I screwed my back up bad doing sumo style dead lifts. Even with good form my spine popped (more like crunched like crushing a cheese puff or cereal...lol like poof) and some nerves got damaged. Didn't hurt at the time...didn't even notice it except that weird crunching feeling. be careful with stressing either form..

Ouch.

How would I squeeze my hams together , like you like static squeeze , because when I flex them its like a drop at the knees since hamstrings pull the muscle to contract into a squat.

Practice the movement without any weight so you can feel the muscle and contract it at the end of the movement (yes, it is a static squeeze). You'll see when you do that.
