NEED MY MC PEOPLE'S PERSPECTIVE PLEASE
OK just getting closer and closer to do this pretty much gives me palpitations (not the opening the gym idea)
I get the bulk of my hours at 1 of 2 hospitals I work at right now on the weekend.
This is a weekend business.
Either jump off the cliff and fly, or kill myself trying....

My other Job is Per Diem, with set Wednesdays (9 hour day)

My friends that own businesses say if you worry about everything, you will never pull the trigger, and always work for someone else.

I need perspective from MY MC PEOPLE here.

Is it irresponsible to come up with a business plan, & leave 1 of 2 jobs to pursue this?
What do I need to focus on more here? It is a doable thing, but what really worries me like any business the most, is the beginning few months, kind of like buyers remorse after buying a boat or new car. You want it but than worry on what you just spent.

There is nothing wrong with planning every move when you are trying to set up a new business. Anything is doable, but yes, the first little while is the toughest. It's best if you can start it while still keeping regular job security if you depend on income from your regular jobs. That's how I am currently. I have my own things in the works, and I'm going to get them started while keeping my regular job. If and when they finally take hold and I can support myself on them is when I'll then quit the regular job.

That is where my main issue lies. I have a Part Time weekend job (1050am-1130pm) saturday and sunday.
This business is a Weekend business (bounce house rentals) rare to have a weekday.
My per diem job you pick up shifts when available, but I just secured a stand alone shift meaning I locked down Wednesdays from 8a-5p (hour drive there and hour drive back)
What the hell do I do here???

Almost wondering do I just start buying the equipment I need now, and just not even start renting it yet, or do I just keep waiting and possibly never do it, or do I take a risk of leaving the Part Time job and fail with the business.... Aye aye aye haha I over think everything.

I'm a risk taker. I believe in the whole, nothing ventured nothing gained thing. You have hinted at several businesses over the last several months. At this point IMO you go for it.
I will say its easy for me to say. I have haven't had a hourly job sense the Marines. I have been in sales for over 20 years and never guaranteed a paycheck. I can put it down and pick it back up anytime, anywhere. I'm not sure what you do for a living. If it was harder to pick up where I left off for whatever reason I might not be as gung ho!

Good luck!

Yeah I work at 2 different hospitals, & one of them is 26 hrs saturday sunday, the biz im looking into is a weekend biz, and I have a per diem job that I do every Wed for 9 hours. The problem is if I go per diem at the wkend job they expect you to take call on the wkends....
This is a very hard field to get a job in. I have been pretty lucky, but I also had my gaps in jobs.

When I first became a MC member I just left being a Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist job bc I worked a 22 hour shift (putting wires in peoples hearts) & I went to the manager & told them 'You said this would be 8-13 hour days, I can do 13's, I can NOT do 22 hour days, I want a family, not just a job'
I asked if Part time was an option, they said it's all or nothing.
I quit.
THE NEXT week I tore my tricep tendon in half, became a member on here (almost 7 years ago :O ) & I had a 6 month recovery with no job bc my arm.

So I am as im guessing most would be afraid. Not afraid to do hard work.
Not afraid to put the time and effort in.
Not to do all the research.
But.... Afraid to fail, and have to try to pick up the pieces again.

That being said I would almost say I hate my wkend job, I know you're not going to be in love with your career, but I literally hate it 90% of the time.

****The other and main issue****
My Dad has Sarcoidosis.
Admitted to the hospital 2 times since September for Pneumonia.
Pneumonia kills people with Sarcoidosis.
He watches my kids, but I can't have him watch them when they are sick anymore due to this (his last hospital stay was 11 days)

So What is some good advice in this situation? I can bring my kids with me with this biusiness

I have come to realize there is no clear cut answers to anything. Making a choice is difficult because alot of times your current position has potential too.
What if you talk to your current employer s and just tell em your dilemma and see if they can hold your spot a few months at least.
I know it sounds crazy but hey ya never know!

If you have wife, kids, mortgage etc then it's not very responsible or smart to cut off your main source of income to start something your unsure of. It's gambling with your families security, however the good news is your gambling on yourself.

Im all for taking chances , and if I was single or just married then I'd give it a go , but with kids and such I'd personally start building the new venture up while still working my main job.

Either way good luck to you bro! Not sure what your business idea is but if you TRULY BELIEVE it will work then it will!

Stop trying to predict the future and create it! ;)

All very true points, thanks Brutha. I got a call from a guy high up in a company when I was literally a day away from ordering stuff for one business. It's a good job, so I took that as a sign to put it on pause until I at least see what the deal would be with this company :)
