Galantamine functions as an acetylcholinesterase inhibitor, meaning it's blocks the enzyme that breaks down the neurotransmitter acetylcholine, and is normally used to treat Alzheimer's disease. As a nootropic, it also allosterically(not the main binding site) binds to nicotinic receptors, which increases the way acetylcholine is used. This, in turn can increase the amount of acetylcholine released by the receptor. As you know, acetylcholine is responsible for increased cognitive function and brain activity. It is the line of the only dual-mechanism nootropic drugs for increasing acetylcholine.
Galantamine also contains anxiolytic properties(anti-anxiety) and can help reduce the edge when taking heavy amounts of stims. It has a half life of 7hr, and is a great addition to preworkout or other nootropic stacks. Typical doses are between 2-8mg, with 2-4mg being most common. This ingredient is found in #MYOBLOX product #loco under the branded name Nivadren. I really like this addition to preworkouts, specifically to take some of the bite out of heavy stims and increased focus.
