getting more lean muscle mass from sarms vs. steroids?

A friend of mine said he can get good lean muscle mass on sarms easier then using steroids
he said steroids give him too much mass which makes it look really fake
21 years old and I’m around 156 pounds and five foot ten
would like to put on lean muscle mass
I was a runner for many years when I was a teenager and I like to run a lot so does this mean GW and maybe s4 would be the best bet for me?
Or should I go with SR + s23?
