I am gluten and lactose intolerant. I am out of protein powder and am looking for something that won't bother my stomach.
I see that Myogenix has a whey isolate product called ISO. It claims, "Unlike most competing products, ISO contains:" A list of 14 items folllws, the first of which is, "ZERO GLUTEN"; the last of which is "LESS THAN .5g LACTOSE". So far, so good (I can deal with a small amount of lactose with no negative effects). However, they have the following disclaimer in fine print: "THIS PRODUCT IS MANUFACTURED IN A PLANT THAT PRICESSES MILK, SOY, WHEAT & EGGS."
Which means, it very well COULD be, and some batches almost ceetainly are, contaminated with gluten. While I can tolerate small amounts of lactose, I cannot tolerate small amounts of gluten without discomfort.
I looked at Jay Robb's line of protein powders, because he is gluten intolerant also. His powders claim "gluten-free ingredients" but does NOT specifically say "gluten-free". The careful wording "gluten-free ingredients" as opoosed to saying simply, "gluten-free" makes me think it, too may be processed in a plant that processes wheat.
Does anybody know of a quality protein powder that does not contain carbohydrates, or at least a very small amount, which is definitely GLUTEN-FREE?
