how often do you change your workouts?

As the title states....how often do you switch things up? What do you change? Reps? Volume? Etc.

And if you switch things up, why? Injuries? Plateau? Just get bored?

I never do the same workout twice. I may do the same exercises but never in the same order. A few times a year I will change up my rep cycle for a few weeks just to shock my muscles.

I'll switch when progress stalls. Or when goals change. I don't change because I get bored, I never get bored of gaining muscle, or losing fat. That's why you hear very experienced guys here say always track everything, this enable you to make changes to attain goals, and you have something to look back on to know when it's time to change. But yes reps, volume, which lifts. I had great results going from 5x5 to 10x10 gvt. But that's me.

Thx for the replies. Dpile, ive never done german volume training. I plan on trying it this winter. Ive heard it's pretty tough. What was your experience?

I usually do a different one every chance . if i find a combo that gets me super pumped i will do it again next time try harder then switch. But i do have some favorites i like to use when the cycle starts getting good.
But with chest I always start incline.

Thats rare , but you'll see a lot of the more experienced guys start off inclining then flat bench

I will never workout a body part in the same order than I did it the week prior. I feel the first set after warm up is the most important.

I change things up fairly often. Gotta trick the body. For example, I might work one or two body parts a day with a typical rep range of 8-15 for a few months & than just disappear from the gym for a few weeks & do body weight exercises from home. Helps change it up, to trick your muscle & going to the gym to do the same shit all time can burn ya out. Good to get a break.

I've done German volume. It's not my ideal volume, but it's a good change.

Like many here, NEVER do same WO twice in a row, change reps, exercises, sets, rest between sets etc, I mainly stay with the basics that I leaned almost 40 yrs ago. Many times I instinct train, ignoring sets & reps, as a rule I do 12-14 sets for large parts ie back, chest, thighs and 8-10 for everything else.
