Ask your doctor like he said all you need is the woman's panel that will tell you everything you need to know it only cost about $150 through LabCorp..
If it's pre-cycle blood work you're fine going through your doc....but if/when you get on cycle blood work you don't want to go through your doc because if he sees elevated test levels on there your insurance will find out and your premiums may skyrocket.....and you could also be denied life insurance in the future. Not worth the risk. There are a couple websites that you can go to and order your own blood work without seeing a doc.
Whichever one you choose, order the hormone panel for females (cheaper) and pay online with a card. ($50-$70) Print and bring in the requisition form and tell them it's prepaid and you have no insurance. In and out in 5 mins and the results are emailed to you within a few days.
The info listed above is what I used to do, but be sure to add on the cholesterol panel so that you are aware of your cholesterol. The labs will be provided to you and will include a reference range and tell you if you are in range or not. If you have a specific question regarding a certain lab you can post it or look up the information.
Those lab test should run you aprx. $100
