Train less and grow more.

In August at age 40, Dennis James won the Tampa Bay Pro, and he followed that up one week later with a victory at the Europa Super Show. DJ will compete in his ninth Mr. Olympia on September 25-26. He tells us about training each bodypart once weekly and how to develop hanging hamstrings.

JAMES ON GROWING LIKE A COUCH POTATO

"If you really want to put on mass, try to train each bodypart only once per week. At first when you reduce your workout frequency you’ll probably feel that you’re not doing enough, but remember while you rest is the only time you grow. You don’t grow in the gym. You grow when you’re home, with your ass on the couch, drinking a protein shake and watching something stupid on TV."

I've been doing stiff leg deads and I've been working up higher and higher each week, this week I did 275 for 8 reps and luckily it was my last set of the day otherwise, well, it still would've been my last set of the day lol

It's not so much the back that gets you, for me it's being able to hold onto it with a double overhand grip since I don't use straps. Doing a lot of reps takes some time so it's hard to keep a firm grip
