Having a well-planned post cycle therapy or PCT after cycling with prohormones and anabolic steroids is definitely a must. Besides staving off a number of potentially serious health issues that can hit you sooner or later, getting a proper one going also safeguards the gains that you’ve achieved during your cycle.

And when it comes to PCT, one of the things that you’re sure to come across is Clomid, a type of selective estrogen receptor modulator (SERM). Make sure you follow along to get the lowdown on how to appropriately use Clomid and get the PCT results that you’re looking for.
[h=2]A Brief Primer on Clomid[/h]What is Clomid?
Clomid – the generic name of Clomiphene Citrate – is basically a hypothalamic pituitary testicular axis (HPTA) stimulator and anti-estrogen. It was originally formulated to induce ovulation among women who are suffering from low fertility issues, but has made its way to the bodybuilding world for its PCT benefits.
Why is Post Cycle Therapy (PCT) Important?
See, the body’s natural testosterone production becomes disrupted when you cycle with anabolic steroids and prohormones. Testosterone levels usually get well below normal during a cycle and when the steroids in the blood begin to dissipate, the body is activated into a catabolic state.
Apart from triggering health issues like sailing blood pressure levels and gynecomastia, this catabolic state that the body is going through also promotes the wasting away of muscle tissues. This simply means that you will lose a significant amount of the gains that you’ve achieved unless you get a proper PCT going.
What Does Clomid Do?
Based on the results of several clinical studies, Clomid has been seen to stimulate the body to churn out gonadotrophic hormones to realign its testosterone levels to prevent a catabolic state from taking place.
It does this by encouraging the hypophysis or anterior pituitary gland to work double time after cycling with prohormones and anabolic steroids.
There are basically two major types of gonadotrophic hormones in the body, particularly the luteinizing hormone (LH) and the follicle stimulating hormone (FSH). The FSH and LH work together to rev up the testes to produce and release more testosterone.
This staves off the risk of catabolism and the risks that it can set off in the long run if not dealt with properly through PCT.
[h=2]The Right Way of Using Clomid for Post Cycle Therapy[/h]When Should You Take Clomid During PCT?

It is important to take note that the right time to start taking Clomid greatly depends on the harshness or strength of the prohormones and anabolic steroids that you used in your cycle. You need to be aware of the androgen levels in your blood first before using Clomid for your PCT or the whole thing will end up being counterproductive.
In short, using Clomid while your blood’s androgen levels are still quite high will simply sap away its potency and efficacy. On the other hand, using it when the androgen levels in your blood have already dipped down drastically will already make your body prone to catabolism.
For your reference, below is a list of some widely used anabolic steroids and prohormones as well as the recommended time when you should start taking Clomid after you last administered the same:

How Much Clomid Should You Use During PCT?
Here is a simple timetable that you can use as a guide to determine how much Clomid you should take during PCT:
For regular or mild cycles:

25 milligrams daily

Week 4
25 milligrams daily

</tbody>

For stronger or harsher cycles:
