Guys,
I guess by now most of you have seen the flooding and general devastation from hurricane Harvey that landed in this area on Friday.
There were houses that were destroyed but the real danger is the water.
Because of the growth of Houston over the last 15 years, there is a lot of concrete and no drainage being planned when new buildings are put up.
It has been raining for a few days now, but the problem is that there is nowhere for the water to go except on the highways, streets, and people's homes.
Lots of rescues being carried out by the police, fire , etc but there is a large amount of rescues being done by neighbors, passers by, and people that came to Texas from places as far away as NYC to help.
I can tell you that really strengthens my belief that people were put on this earth to help their fellow man.
I attached two files
7208 is 1/4 mile from where I stay working in Houston. It is at 10" high water.
7209 is IH10 East (main highway). That is about 4 feet of water on the highway.
Most all highways are closed as are airports.
There is more rain coming tonight and tomorrow.
I am good- on the 5th floor of an apartment complex but water logged on all sides- so really can't go anywhere yet.
We have a gym here and I have got plenty of chicken, oatmeal, water, peanut butter and eggs.
It is supposed to stop on Wednesday night.
Keep the people that have lost everything in your prayers please.

I am in league city right now at fathers house. My house is in Alvin. So far both houses are dry inside. Depending on how much rain we get tonight that can change. Draining has slowed so it's taking less and less rain to get water to rise. Fingers crossed things don't get to bad tonight. Wish anyone the best who is out here dealing with this. Stay safe guys!

The next landfall will occur near Galveston tomorrow. But you are right there is no change for drainage to happen. I am in between hwy6 and the beltway - not to far from the dam and water going everywhere. Try to stay safe- if I can help in anyway, please let me know.

Hope you are safe and stay that way. I think that those that are looting, during this tragic event should be shot on site. Gutter Rats that need to be eliminated.

Thoughts and prayers are definitely with you. My training partner is in the process of renting another truck and we will be loading it from the local Walmart and BJ's then he will truck it down from the Metro Washington DC area next week.
Stay safe brutha!!

That is awesome to hear. The really bad thing is that water is not receding in some areas that are less than 1/2 mile away. The amount of water still left after a week is still mind boggling and the mold and bacteria is multiplying faster as it is still 90 degrees here. Still thousands of people still in shelters. We have a curfew till today for those areas not flooded. Most of the homes that continue to be flooded are being declared unsafe and they are not letting people back to recover anything.
Looters and scan artists around as well- and yes we do have the Castle Doctrine in Texas - I can shoot you if I think I am in danger as you break into my house - it's sad to think you would think about robbing or taking advantage of people at their worst time of their lives. But unfortunately that is what is happening. Thank you all for the support. Now we have to focus on Florida- a cat 5 is headed that way.

I would think the Castle Doctrine should save lives.

It needs to be known you break into someone's home your chances of dieing are huge.

Good luck
