I know there is different name brands, just like gear, but is all insulin the same, with the exception of some being faster/slower acting? I guess what im asking is there different grades?

For instance, a lot of people say humalin sucks, and humalog is better. why? Just because one is faster acting? Is that like saying prop is better than cyp, or enanthate, because it acts faster? Don't they both do the same thing?
 
It's not different grades, just the length of time they are active in the body, and the length of time a particular insulin is active is a huge deal. It's nothing like esters in test. Humalog is active in the body for two hours. This is the time frame you have to make sure you get plenty of carbs so you don't go hypoglycemic. Humalin is active for four hours. That's a lot longer time to make sure you are okay. No sleeping during this time. There are other longer-acting insulins (8 hr) as well which diabetics take small amounts of so they don't have sugar buildup while they sleep--not at all useful for bodybuilding.

Thanks again S, you know your stuff! So if you were to choose, which is more sought after, for our goals? Humalog im guessing? Ive heard people not having good luck with humalin before. Would that be because of diet/ not getting"enough" carbs in, in that "window", or because they are not sensative enough to it?
 
Humalin R just did nothing for me. I got up to 12 iu twice a day. Maybe I didn't eat enough or something, but it was just worthless. I did it with breakfast and post workout. I'm going to give Humalog a shot preWO with Nair's idea and see how that works. It should be good for some great pumps and fast recovery if nothing else. Insulin is cheap so I may as well give it one last shot before I toss it out as a potential aid. I've got some IGF, but I'm not going to use them at the same time since I know IGF works for me.

Cant imagine you not eating enough,lol. So is there any other type that you know other than humalin and humalog?

Insulin aspart (NovoLog®)
Insulin glulisine (Apidra®)

Short-acting (4 hr): regular insulin (Humulin® R, Novolin R®)

Intermediate-acting (6 hr): NPH insulin (Humulin® N, Novolin® N)

Long-acting (8+ hr):

Insulin glargine (Lantus®)
Insulin detemir (Levemir®).

If you can't get a rapid-acting insulin, a short-acting insulin such as Humulin R is really the only other one you would want as applied to bodybuilding. The others go on far too long and can be very dangerous for a non-diabetic.

For some, Humulin R may just be too long for a benefit. I also used it the first time I tried insulin, but it didn't do much for me either. Humalog has been far better.

another slin newb question..... what would be a good starting point in terms of time on? 6-8 wks?
 
Not sure if there is really a set term to be on as it really depends on the user. I'd say it should vary depending on the user's experience and training. If I was Presser, I'd go perhaps 10-12 weeks. For you, possibly 8-10 weeks. What I've done in the past is start out at 2iu for one week, then increase by 2iu each week so by the 10th week I would be up to 20iu, and that would be as far as I would go on the dosage, then end the cycle two weeks later giving me 12 weeks total which is usually the length of the whole cycle. I would be interested to hear how others have run it.
 
when i feel flat i do it in the am with 125g oats 20g aminos and 15 egg whites then post workout i do it again with amino, protein, carb concoction and then beef/chk breast and oats/sweet potato. a few days of doing this and i am perma pumped. i may do this a few to several times a month

are you using humalin, or humalog? what doses?
 
i use humalog usually 10iu sometimes 12 and it does the trick. it took some trial and error but to me the most important thing is the aminos. i get this tub of post workout amino powder at gnc (sorry nsupp) and it has 9grams per serving. that shit with the humalog will put a hell of a pump on you. on the days i do that my rear delts get so pumped while i train its just fucking painful. i think oats are very important as well because when i try to use fast carbs (white potato white rice ect) i get hypo off the shit and it feels terrible. you just take it slow start with 4iu and get your oats and aminos and protein (no fat) and see how you feel its a process and you will master it in a month or so and for me being lanky and small boned it has done wonders.

i found a place that has novolog. What is the difference between novolog and humalog? Is one better than the other? The novolog is without a script, but the humalog required a script. I was wondering why...
 
actually they were both scriptless, so what would be a better choice, or does it not really matter?
