Has anyone heard of John Meadows training style, the MountainDog training program. Not sure what it really consist of, but I paid for his site, to read as much as I can. It has some very cool, info on diet, and training. But not sure on the whole idea around this program. I know he believes in lots of volume, with certain intensity sets. He has made up some cool exercises, and it seems to be somewhat effective...Just wanted to know if anyone has tried out the program for a full 12 weeks or more...

no i havent tryed anything from his readings, but i have read some of the stuff on his site. I was going to invite him over here just last week and fogot to get around to it, so glad i read this!

I'm plan on using some of his workout intensity stuff. I'll try to get more volume to my routines. It will really be different for me. But I think it will spur some growth.

I started a thread on here a few months ago after watching him grocery shop. I think Mike Ross wanted one of his athletes to do the same. Meadows was walkign through Trader Joes and explaining his food choices. I follow some of his stuff on PM but the PM people are jerks, very rude bunch over there. Ask a question and you might get your head bit right off, lol. Anyway, I noticed he had a $9.95 per month newsletter, is that waht you got??

I agree they are like a bunch of children on that site and you better not have a different idea than their main pro BB over there or all the nut huggers will attack you.

But back to Meadows, I have seen of his exercise variations haven't really tried any, but I am interested in his carb philosophy of before, during and after workout would like more info on that.

To Rep - yes its the 10 dollar a month newsletter...mountaindog express...its a pay site, but its full of great (GREAT) info...logs, diets, training styles, last week prep, carb up or down, depletions, salt, water, ect ,ect...he has many well know doctors interviews and many great competors with real knowledge...check it out...I will see if he will come on the site...

Meadows is a great guy and a real professional. This isnt even his real gig, he puts 40 hours a week in elsewhere. That being said, yes the grocery store thing is something we both do. Im gonna do it with one of my fighters next month for sure as a heavyweight i work with is looking to get to 260lbs.

His style is a mix between high intensity and non-linear deperiodization. as you've read, he likes chains, bands, anything that adds resistance but not actual weight to protect himself from injury as he has had his fair share. Forget anything over at PM. I used to love that board about a decade ago but each year it gets worse and worse, IMHO, but it makes bookoo bucks for big A so props to him

I havnt gotten into the bands or chains but Im working into more his style for a change of pace..

bands and chains make all the difference. Tate does something similar too for his power work and his results have been great too. Its all what works for you.

Chris you know ive gotten back into training, and ive finally realized i just dont have the genetics to take that type of stage. I havent jumped on gear yet, but i already know and can tell. The shape and muscle bellies arent there. Im getting spartan certified this january and will be coaching a few guys for spartan races. These techniques still apply to even this type of stuff. Really think about get a set of chains, or making a set. Give the whole system a try and see what it does for you. if nothing, then back to a mix of high volume and HIT

Yeah, I would like to try out some band work, and even the chains...As you know Mike, my training partner Frank is pretty old school. But, I think I can get him to try it out, and see how it would feel. It would be something totally different, and I think the change would be good.

i think it would too. It would be better for your elbow as well. You could use less weight but gain increasing resistance on moves without actually increase weight on the bar/machine etc. I can help you make the chains even as I'm going to be copying tate's setup for about half the price.

If you end up making some extra and wanna get some of your money back, let me know I'd love to pick some up. I've thought about buying some for myself, but as an individual it's hard to fork up a lot of money for stuff like that. My friends that I train with are broke idiots and wouldn't pitch in

I'd get tossed out if I walked in with chains at my gym lol. I would love to try some for db bench work. I see JoJ use this a lot
