Left Pec Injury

Only 4 days into my blast and I injured my left pec. I was doing incline dumbbell bench presses when it happend. I had already done 3 warm up sets and was on my 4th with 100's. I felt a small rip where my pec inserts into my delt while getting into my start position. I didn't think much of it and did 5 reps. The pain intesified and I ended up dropping the dumbbells. I don't think it's torn. It seems more like I strained a tendon. I stretched it out and then tried stretching by using 20 Lb'ers in a flye position, but it was too painful. I should have a better idea of what's going on tomorrow. This sucks.

That sucks bro, I did something similar some time ago and actually ended up having costochondritis because I let it go so long without going to the doc, took almost 4 months to get better with no chest training and medication. You may want to head to the doc either way if you think it's more serious and at least get yourself some Naproxen for the inflammation, wish i would have done that right off the bat myself. Keep us posted

Thanks guy's.

I've been taking Advil and will ice it tonight while watching a movie with the family. Tomorrow will be the true test. I'll see a doc if the pain persists.

Sounds like exactly what happened to me on the 5th of this month. Pec was fine about 10 days later with rest and heat after the first day of ice. Don't screw with it or aggravate it, just see if the pain is constant and how bad. I'm betting its a minor strain.

Good luck, bro! Just rest that thing and don't push it. Let it heal and then you can get back to business.

No bruise after checking this morning. Still sore and tight as hell, but better than last night. I'm hoping just a week or so.
well thats a good thing. I had a similar problem 2 years ago. Slow, long stretches helped out, with light weight also. Another reason to go lighter I guess..... im gonna have to start going lighter for sure.

I worked Back & Bis today. Nothing crazy. I used strict form and didn't push too hard to failure. I only did exercises where my elbows were tucked in at the waist. Nothing wide grip, etc. I tried a set of floor deads with 225 and had some discomfort with the left pec at the top of the movement. I didn't push it. It felt good to be back at it.

I trained Delts, Traps, and Tris yesterday. The pec was a little tender while doing pressing movements, so I backed off a bit. It was good to go otherwise. I should be at 100% in another week.

I had a torn pec a couple years ago, same situation except i was on the bench press and going up my pec gave out and the bar then fell on my..... it was about as serious as it gets ambulance came to get me. I was out of commision for about 7 months. the bruising was sooo bad it was all over from the top of my pec to my armpit.... it sounds like you may have been lucky here bro, let us know what the doc says
