Michal ‘Krizo’ Krizanek:
Slovakian Super Freak With Mass, Shape and Symmetry
‘Krizo’ is a unique blend of freakish mass along with flowing shape and lines, and that will surely be the future of pro bodybuilding.
By Steve Blechman
In 2017, the IFBB split into two organizations, the Pro League and the Elite League. All the top champions remained loyal to Jim Manion's Pro League, leaving the other camp to scramble for new talent. It wasn’t long before their hero arrived, the man on this month’s cover of Muscular Development, a massive Slovakian named Michal Krizanek, who would soon be known simply as “Krizo.”
At 6-foot-1 and 270 pounds, Krizo had a rare combination of mass, shape, and symmetry, with full, round muscle bellies and a small midsection. His arms and shoulders are huge, and he has one of the best most muscular shots in bodybuilding today, as you can see from MD’s cover shot. This is a freak with aesthetics, that dominated the Elite events for five years with little real opposition, as proven by his track record of winning all but one of 15 Elite Pro events he entered.
After four years of crushing all rivals in Europe, Krizo yearned to prove himself on the biggest stage in our sport, the Mr. Olympia. Never asking for special treatment or a pass, Krizo earned his IFBB Pro League card like anyone else would have to, then proceeded to win his pro debut in Prague and compete in his first Olympia. The sheer potential of this man was blatantly evident, and this brief introduction in the final quarter of 2022 was but a glimpse into what the man is ultimately capable of.
Our own Ron Harris interviewed Michal, who is a Scitec Nutrition athlete, to learn more about how he came to bodybuilding, why he chose to abdicate his throne in Europe, and what his goals for the future are. One thing is clear – Michal “Krizo” Krizanek is a unique blend of freakish mass along with flowing shape and lines, and that will surely be the future of pro bodybuilding. With his elusive package of round, full muscle bellies, small joints, and a pleasing shape and structure, Carlos Thomas Jr. looked like he belonged on a pro stage before he won the Nationals in 2021 as a super heavyweight. Carlos has his eyes on this year’s New York Pro, telling MD: “I dreamed of winning that title and ring for a long time. Steve runs a great show. It was written a long time ago that it would be my first pro show. It means a lot to me.” Read more in “Colossal Carlos! Carlos Thomas Jr., The New Gun in Town, Is Ready to Storm the New York Pro!”
Few of us could keep up with Marc Lobliner’s daily schedule. He runs the online supplement retail powerhouse Tiger Fitness as well as MTS Nutrition, is a partner of both Ambrosia Nutraceuticals and Iron Addicts Gym, and is the creator of the Outright Bar, sold everywhere from Walmart to GNC. Plus, he writes a monthly column for MD, Tiger Talk. Marc is also a devoted father of three young athletes and serves as strength coach for all their teams. Yet with all of that going on, this uber competitive man by nature still has his mind set on flexing with other 212 pros, with his sights set on this year’s New York Pro. “To be pretty much a weekend warrior and be able to stand next to these guys and not look out of place is a win for me,” Marc tells MD this month.
