Powerlifting:

Squat: Athletes lift the maximum weight they can for a single repetition from a squatting position.
Bench Press: Athletes lift the maximum weight they can for a single repetition while lying on a bench.
Deadlift: Athletes lift the maximum weight they can for a single repetition from the ground to an upright position.
Competition Format: Powerlifting competitions typically involve three attempts for each of the three lifts, with the goal of lifting as much weight as possible in each event. The lifter with the highest total (the sum of their best lifts in each event) wins.


Training Focus: Powerlifters concentrate on developing maximal strength and technique in the three competition lifts. Training often involves lower rep ranges and a focus on building raw strength.


Equipment: Powerlifting has strict rules regarding the use of supportive equipment, such as squat suits, bench press shirts, and deadlift suits. These are designed to aid lifters in lifting heavier weights.


Strongman:


Events: Strongman competitions involve a variety of strength-based events, which can include:


Atlas Stones: Lifting and placing heavy spherical stones onto platforms.
Log Press: Lifting a log-shaped implement overhead for repetitions or max weight.
Farmers' Walk: Carrying heavy weights in each hand for distance.
Deadlift for Reps: Lifting a heavy barbell for as many repetitions as possible.
Truck Pull: Pulling a heavy vehicle along a set distance.
Yoke Carry: Carrying a heavy frame (yoke) on the shoulders for distance.
Hercules Hold: Holding weighted objects at arm's length for time.
Competition Format: Strongman competitions vary in format, but they often involve multiple events in a single competition. Athletes earn points for their performance in each event, and the athlete with the highest overall score wins.


Training Focus: Strongman training is diverse and focuses on developing strength, endurance, and technique for a wide range of events. It often involves higher-repetition training and carries a greater emphasis on functional strength.


Equipment: Strongman competitions use specialized equipment like Atlas stones, log bars, farmer's walk implements, and more. Athletes typically do not wear restrictive supportive gear like powerlifters.

i competed in powerlifting prior to bodybuilding, and have to say i thoroughly loved the competition! Now strongman on the other hand, man that should would kick my ass, at least i think it would lol, those dude are crazy impressive !! But i would have enjoyed trying to do a local strongman contest when i was younger , lol, it would have been fun! Plus i always enjoyed meeting new people whether backstage at bodybuilding contest or powerlifting meets. Met some of my longest standing friends at shows!
