Scientific confusion breeds skepticism toward people who avoid GLUTEN for medical reasons
_
Conflicting messages send people down a rabbit hole of food avoidance
_
GLUTEN isn’t always the culprit, but avoiding doesn’t hurt as it can lead to certain autoimmune conditions
_
GLUTEN free products are not “healthier” for u, often more expensive & loaded with extra sugar
_
GLIADIN a protein in GLUTEN can cause localized, systemic & pro inflammatory reactions in the gut & exacerbate/initiate any existing inflammatory conditions
_
COELIAC affects 0,7 to 1% of the population, its highly genetic with gene expression increasing severity
_
If u suffer from COELIAC, then its best to avoid any GLUTEN/WHEAT products
_
If u don’t have COELIAC, it doesn’t mean GLUTEN may not still affect U, it certainly can
_
Non-Celiac-Gluten-Sensitivity which can be related to FODMAP’s
_
A diet free from GLUTEN foods automatically leads to a lower intake of FODMAPs
_
For better diagnostic criteria & optimization of clinical care, GLUTEN is NOT the only substance in wheat that triggers symptoms
_
Other wheat components such as FRUCTANS & ATI’s components of wheat may contribute to symptoms
_
ATI’s proteins in wheat, rye & barley emerged as a potential offenders, & need to be better investigated as potential pathogenic factors
_
More clinical research is needed to answer the question whether NCGS really does exist
_
Based on current evidence the existence of NCGS as a clinical entity remains unestablished
_
We still don’t know the underlying causes & simply need better studies on NCGS & FODMAP’s
_
Inflammatory reactions in the GUT can be caused by so many factors & is impossible to pin 1 causative factor
_
If u have NO systemic fatigue,
GI issues or anything attributed to GLUTEN, there’s NO reason to avoid it
_
Don’t confuse GLUTEN with WHEAT, as there are conditions beyond COELIAC/GLUTEN which can be linked to WHEAT
_
Not only WHEAT but many other foods that can cause issues
_
Majority of people can safely handle GLIADIN/ATI’s/FRUCTANS
_
Ur best bet is trial & error cos u’ll never know what the causative factor is
_
Dont forget what stress can do to ur gut issues
