Stop Eating Brown Rice

[h=1]Brown rice has a few minor benefits compared to white rice, but not many. And it has several drawbacks. Check this out.[/h]by TC Luoma | 10/29/15

The hemp-wearing earthy types will tell you that brown rice is full of protein. They'll tell you that it's got the fiber to make your poop strong and proud. They'll tell you that it doesn't raise blood sugar as much as white rice. Well, they're right, but those are all minor details.
Yes, brown rice has protein, but it's a negligible amount; you're better off with a mouthful of animal protein. Brown rice does indeed have fiber, but you'd be better off getting your fiber through other, more nutrient-dense fiber sources like fruits and vegetables. And lastly, yes, it doesn't do much to raise blood sugar, but no one eats a bowl of white rice by itself unless that's all they get to eat. Instead, they eat it with meat, or vegetables, or a little oil, all of which ameliorate rises in blood sugar.
[h=4]The Main Problem With Brown Rice[/h]There's one thing about brown rice that makes it particularly problematic and that's the presence of phytic acid, a compound located in the rice bran – the part that gives brown rice its color. Phytic acid, quite simply, grabs on to or chelates minerals, in addition to inhibiting enzymes we need to digest food. This results in making many of the coveted nutrients largely unavailable for digestion.
That's why white rice, despite decades of propaganda, is often a superior food, especially for athletes. White rice is fortified with vitamins (digestible ones) and isn't associated with food allergies, bloating, or any other digestive problems often associated with grains in general.

I dont think the negatives of brown rice really matter much either. I figure the real con to brown rice is it takes twice as long to cook it!

Rice is the main diet of the Orientals. They have a very low rate of heart related deaths compared to the western diet. So there must be something about brown or white rice that contributes to this. Granted they don't eat much red meat. Most of their protein intake is from fish and chicken.

I just got back from Asia, eating nothing but tons of white rice, veggies and meat and lost about 10 lbs., which no doubt also had a lot to do with the amount of walking I did but goes to show that white rice is not evil, even if weight loss is your goal. Also, I just read an article that Japan is having an economic crisis due to a "graying" nation and more than 63,000 people in the country are 100+ years of age.

Guys I am still looking for another article related to this. I always stayed away from "evil white rice" due to the Glycemic Index. I read an article that says that if you soak white rice overnight in water then discard that water and cook with fresh water, white rice's GI is very simular to brown rice.

Combine the information and if cooked correctly, white rice is my new carb staple along with oatmeal and sweet potatoes.

From my understanding (and please correct me if I'm wrong) the whole Glycemic Index is based on eating the particular food in a vacuum, in this case eating a bowl of white vs. brown rice first thing in the morning with absolutely nothing else. As I understand it, once you add something like fiber-rich veggies or meat to the rice, the whole GI goes out the window.

Looking up info about
Rice myself. Turns out as rice grows in the ground it pulls nutrientz, minerals and ARSENIC out of the ground. Arsenic levels are higher these days because of pollution. FDA even put out a little warning about it.
So thanks a lot for this thread . Now not only do I worry about lead and carcinogens in my water but now I worry about arsenic
