Taking a Break: How long without losing??

Hey Fellas,

I am in need of a break. Besides life being absolutely crazy right now, I feel my body could benefit from a nice break to re-coop. Life will always be crazy to an extent, so its more of a rest for my joints and such. I've been training hard for about 2 and a half years with no more than 2 days usually and never more than 3 days off in that 2 1/2 years.
My question is this: Do any of you guys take a break for say a week or 2?? And, if you do, at what point does that break begin to eat into your gains?? I'd like a break, but I don't want to go backwards guys...

I appreciate all yalls help,
Austin

A break is good for ya a couple times a year IMO bro. Especially as we get older. I will usually take a week off every six months. After about a week of not working out I will feel smaller and not as full. As soon as I get back to the gym my body pops right back that week. So I feel if I took a month off it would take a month to get back to where I was. Sure everyone is different with this. Anyway, I say go for it! Give your body a rest and let those joints get a break!

Yeah Brother. I train insanely hard and I go non-stop in and out of the gym. Feeling like I need to put it on neutral for a week or maybe 2, but no more than that or I'll go crazy!!! lol

Cutler and some of the other pros would take a month off after a major contest

lots of competitors do, as you grow like crazy after dieting down for shows, your body just eats up and uses everything you put into it and you grow like a weed after shows, i know i did, and i took some time off as well. so good point bro!

Yeah Brutha. I've been on a plateau for quite some time. Just needing to sit back and heal up. After pulling the hell out of my bicep, I've been contemplating this and its just time. Hoping it will create an environment for a good growth spurt. I'm sitting at 181 and about 11%. Ready to gain a good solid 8-10 lbs over the next 6 months.

And, don't go lustin on my old lady's ass Boss...lol

I took about 5 months off and I looked pretty sloppy , but the gains FLEW back on. I'll post up a recent pic. I'm 233lbs and 6% tops. My obliques and serratus are totally cut up.
I would say at least 3 weeks before you see any decline in anything

I just went through the same thing. Shoulders, elbows, wrists, and even lower back worn out. I took off 1 week, did everything I knew to do to rest and recoop during that week off. When I went back I felt good but sore as hell post work out. Getting readyto start a new cycle in the near future which includes Deca so im really looking for some major relief from joint pain..

I've done the same as what many have said. After my last show a few months back i was just drained and took almost two weeks off. Gained a ton of weight still pretty lean it's nice to come back. Everything's a bit foreign for a little but it's nice

Well, I took a total of 8 days off. Came back feeling much better. My workouts have left me sore again finally. And, I have amazing pumps. Up 3 lbs as well while leaning out at the same time... I'll post a pic later.....

Thanks to all of my MC brothers for your support...

Austin

im taking a break now myself after surgery, but im hoping it helps all my other little ailments as well like elbows, shoulders etc. im looking at like 3 weeks off

I take off 2 months, then back on. This is not zero gym time, just light weights easy easy days, and I may go once or twice a week, I like coming back after some time off, body just seems to suck up everythin you put in it, and all the receptors are clear. Pump like never before, throw in MC IGF cant bend your arms post work out from the pumps.

Im on my longest break right now, about 7 days. My son started football and he has practice every night for a month but I have to get back in the gym, hate it but it's totally worth it.
