UFC heavyweight Travis Browne will not be fighting in the octagon until an investigation into domestic violence claims is concluded.
UFC heavyweight Travis Browne will not be competing in the octagon anytime soon. According to a report from UFC Tonight, the Hawaiian fighter will remain on the sidelines until a full investigation of the domestic violence claims against him has been concluded.
Back in July, Browne's partner Jenna Renee Webb posted a series of photos on Instagram, showing bruises to her arms, legs, and face. In the comment section when asked who did this to her, she indicated that it was Browne. A day later, she stated that she was not going to press charges against him.
Due to the allegations against him, the UFC removed Browne from his duties at International Fight Week and issued a statement in regards to the situation:
"UFC is aware of the social media allegations made against Travis Browne. The organization requires all athletes to act in an ethical and responsible manner, as mandated by the UFC Fighter Conduct Policy. UFC will not tolerate domestic violence or any other violation of the policy. Every athletes is deserving of due process and this situation, as with any allegations, will be duly reviewed and thoroughly investigated by an independent party. In light of the news, Travis will not be participating in this week's UFC International Fight Week activities.
"The prevention of domestic violence and the education of the athletes is of the utmost importance to the organization. UFC holds its athletes to the highest standard and will continue to take appropriate action if and when warranted."
Browne (17-3-1, 8-3-1 UFC) last competed in May, where he was stopped in the first round by Andrei Arlovski. Browne was asked by UFC Tonight to comment on the issues, but he declined.
