Overeem met Harris in a main event with an emotional backdrop as this was Harris’s first fight since the tragic murder of his stepdaughter Aniah Blanchard. An inspired Harris came roaring out of his corner in the first, nearly finishing Overeem with strikes, but the 65-fight veteran weathered the storm and battled back in the second round to turn the tables and finish Harris.
It was the third win in four fights for Overeem, who looks to make one more run at a UFC title when he fights Augusto Sakai this Saturday in the main event of UFC Vegas 9 on ESPN+.
