Worried about the well-being of its fighters, the UFC gave them all a document with tips on dangerous neighborhoods, DSTs and tampered drinks in nightclubs.
Making a show as big as the UFC happen in such a big foreign city like Rio de Janeiro brings up many problems that go beyond logistics. For instance, they need to make sure their fighters are safe and healthy so they can perform in the best way possible come fight night.
With that thought in mind, the UFC printed and sent out a document to all the fighters on the UFC 190 card, even the Brazilian ones, as to how they should avoid the "dangers" of Rio de Janeiro's nightlife and whatnot as it was reported by Combate.
Some of the tips actually are helpful, like warning fighters to avoid all areas near favelas, neighborhoods with a high incident of crime like Santa Teresa and Lapa despite it being famous for its nightlife.
Others are just weird or at least unexpected, like telling them to avoid picking up dates in clubs or hotels because they could contract AIDS from prostitutes, not to mention many of them could be underage girls.
Still on the nightlife subject, they emphasize how "spotters" could be watching them, how much they spend or how drunk they are. They ask to "always watch over your drink".
Unfortunately, that's the only piece of the document revealed, which could mean there is even more to it. But for now, fighters, beware.
