UFC Vegas 21 Tweets: Pros react to Eryk Anders’ illegal knee, no decision vs. Darren Stewart

Photo by Jeff Bottari/Zuffa LLC via Getty Images Another week, another UFC fight ended by an illegal knee. A belt wasn’t on the line this time, but reaction to the UFC Vegas 21 fight between Eryk Anders and Darren Stewart was similarly swift.
The middleweight bout was declared a no-decision after Stewart took a blatantly illegal knee in the first round of the bout. Referee Herb Dean twice called the cageside doctor in to look at Stewart, and the second time, the doctor decided Stewart could not continue after testing his gait by asking him to walk.
Because Dean ruled the foul unintentional, and two of three rounds had not elapsed in the non-title fight, the bout was declared a no-decision. Had it been ruled intentional, Anders would have been disqualified.
Dean, though, unintentionally raised Anders’ hand partially as the decision was read.
