I posted this for fun! I can't believe it is still used by the "MEDICAL" community. I had an argument with my Dr. last week and asked her if she was really going to use a formula from the 50's to determine my health. My wife was with me and was getting pissed at me because I guess I seemed argumentative, lol (never). I told her I would gladly submit to a bodpod test or whatever she wanted before she continued to lecture me with the ancient school of thought.

Your BMI is based on your height and weight. It's one way to see if you're at a healthy weight.
Underweight: Your BMI is less than 18.5
Healthy weight: Your BMI is 18.5 to 24.9
Overweight: Your BMI is 25 to 29.9
Obese: Your BMI is 30 or higher

It's completely ridiculous. It puts ME in the obese range at a BMI of 31, and anyone looking at me would be like, "Whaaaaa??" if I told them my doc considered me obese. It's just stupid.

Iron, I get that same "argumentative" BS sometimes..... I don't get ut either... LOL!

As for the BMI, I'm in the same boat as Big Z and probably most of us here. Every freakin time I go for a checkup to my TRT doc, the "exit paperwork" shows my BMI and there's a "helpful" message to talk to my primary care physician about ways to lose weight.... It irritates the shit out of me.

More than that, since that bullshit is in my medical record, I wonder if there could be some unforseen issue coming up regarding insurance coverage of some medical issue that may arise in the future because of my alleged "history of obesity".

I intend to talk to the doc about having this dumb shit struck from my records going forward for this reason.

I am obese as well, at 6'3" and 250 lbs. I wear a 50 sport coat and have a 36" waist. BMI is full of SHIT!

I think its bs..

I have a cousin who was skinny and he was told he was overweight and needed to lose weight... TO a doctor I should be between 156 to 176 lbs.. no way will I ever get to that and not that I would want.. I rather be 235 and muscular than to be a twig

I don't know any man who wants to weigh in the 150's, lol.
