WSM Size Comparison

Thought you guys would like to see a size comparison from Worlds Strongest Man Competitors versus bodybuilders...

Now I was a long time BBer so I still have the frame and lean look of a BBer which makes me unique in the sport..

The guys in WSM being much larger genetically, though no where near as lean....

I can share a few of my personal photo's to give you guys a size correlation

Now I am 5'7" 220ish in most of these, not a monster by any means but usually kick at this weight around 6% bodyfat, so proportionately I am not usually considered "small" but next to these guys I am tiny...

Me next to Big Tom McClure who was my judge for this competition I was in, later became my training partner. Big Tom here has to be 360-370..he is a monster...Nicest guy you will ever meet.

Me in the black judging WSM this was a rules meeting, to my left in the grey is Gerard Benderoth 5'10 400+lbs, to his left in gray from Sweden Johannes Arsjo, 6'3 320lbs, to the far left somewhat hidden in gray is Derek Poundstone 5'11 345lbs

Steve Slater (makes all the equipment for WSM, Derek Poundstone and me) this picture doesn't do Derek justice this was when he was a bit lighter, maybe 325lbs?

And in this video you can see me holding the yoke still for my longtime training partner Derek Poundstone when he loads the World record 555lb Atlas Stone, yes you read that correctly 5.5.5 pound stone over the bar...I can't budge this an inch off the ground...top give you an idea of his strength

Me and my daughter madison with WSM competitor Kevin Nee, you may remember him from MTV's True Life I wanna be a Strongman, he won his lightweight pro card and then moved up to the Heavies...I am considered a LW, 231 pounds and below is LW competition.

the fist pic really dwarfs you. i bet some of them that are 6+ and close to 400 pounds make anyone look small.

Hey Wes, if you dont mind me asking, how old is your daughter now. She was a little younger then the pic.
when you did comp. in Calif. if I remember right. My daughter just hit 18 and still have a 14 year old at home.

yes these stronmen are just HUGE !!! I mean I remember going to the Arnold post dinner party, and these guys just makes the pro bodybuilders look small...Only one to actully look somewhat big next to them was Markus Rhul...and he still looked smaller than all the strongmen

That is freaking crazy. A former employee of ours use to do WSM, I spoke to him a few weeks ago and he said he was "feeling pretty lean at 320lbs." lol, thats crazy. But that big, he was just about the nicest guy I've ever met.

My daughter is 5 now Time has flown by..when we met you at my competition in CA, I believe she was only 1 year old...I didn't realize you had 2 teenage daughters!! Ironic because I remember you having hair still Hope you are well McGaret!

Lightsout thanks for the compliment..Actually nowadays I am a bit smaller, I am sitting around 205ish today...I could not maintain the additional 20lbs that I kept when running AAS. Being Natural is not fun...oddly enough I am stronger now, lighter...I have been working hard though, so that's likely why.

Chris a guy like you or Nuk or probably some of the larger BBers here, could at least blend in with these guys Evan Centopani in the off season is actually around the 300lb mark I believe and he looks very similar to a 325lb strongman..only Evan's back is bigger then any strongman's I have seen , but he can blend in...
