The 2024 European Weightlifting Championships have just concluded in Sofia, Bulgaria, and among the world’s strongest athletes in the competition was none other than 2023’s Fittest Woman on Earth, Laura Horvath.
Just four months ago, Horvath won the 2023 Hungarian Weightlifting National Championship in the 76kg weight category with a total of 215 kilograms:
- 95-kilogram snatch
- 120-kilogram clean and jerk (Hungarian National Record)
At the 2024 Europeans, Horvath once again competed in the 76kg weight category and finished with a total of 205 kilos, good enough for seventh place overall.

76kg Results at the 2024 European Weightlifting Championships
Here are the top three competitors from the event:
- Genna Toko Kegne (ITA) — 227 kilograms (101/126)
- Nicole Rubanovich (ISR) — 216 kilograms (99/117)
- Lara Dancz (GER) — 215 kilograms (101/114)
For a CrossFit athlete like Horvath, who has to divide her training time between strength, gymnastics, and conditioning, this is extremely impressive, considering she competed against other athletes who focus all of their time purely on strength training.
Another thing to keep in mind is that the 2024 CrossFit Open begins less than two weeks from the time of this article’s publication.
Laura Horvath’s Recent Weightlifting Success
Horvath’s total of 205 kilograms was only 10 kilograms (22 pounds) away from the third-place overall finisher, Lara Dancz, who finished with 215 kilograms. That was the same weight Horvath hit last November in Hungary.
During her championship run at the Games last year, Horvath once again completed a total near 215 kilograms in the event “Olympic Total,” where she snatched 205 pounds and clean and jerked 265 pounds for a total of 470 pounds (213 kilograms).
Horvath’s 2024 CrossFit Season Is Heating Up
With Horvath’s final off-season competition in the books, she and the rest of the CrossFit community will focus their attention on the official start of the 2024 season when the Open begins on February 29.
