Bodybuilder Lou Ferrigno is renowned for his depiction of the Marvel superhero Hulk in addition to his work as an athlete. In a recent post made on Instagram, Hollywood star Joe Manganiello crushed a chest workout under the guidance of Ferrigno.
Lou Ferrigno first gained attention after winning the IFBB Mr. America title as a Men’s Open bodybuilder in 1969. He formed a strong partnership with fellow icon Arnold Schwarzenegger during the early days of his career. Their rivalry was displayed in the famous docudrama Pumping Iron (1977), which helped boost Ferrigno’s popularity. Besides bodybuilding, Ferrigno participated in the inaugural World’s Strongest Man contest in 1977 and finished fourth.
Ferrigno voiced his disapproval of gym goers who spend more time texting on their phones instead of using equipment. As the former Hulk, Ferrigno weighed in on the evolution of the character over the years as well. He fired shots at one of the latest renditions of the comic book hero for its lackluster use of CGI in The Avengers: Endgame (2019).
In June 2021, Ferrigno reflected on his decorated two-decade-long career. He revealed his win at the Mr. Universe as his greatest memory. Despite the success Pumping Iron achieved, he expressed regret about his involvement in the project.
Ferrigno offered some of his best tips on working out and getting ripped in March 2022. He credited training daily, cardio, and having the right mindset for keeping him fit in his twilight years. He made a comeback in the entertainment industry for a horror-thriller film as a cannibalistic pig farmer while going back to his old roots as a monster.
Hollywood actor Joe Manganiello first graced the movie theatres as Flash Thompson in Spider-Man (2002). His huge build saw him bag roles that required portrayals of burly characters like Deathstroke in DC’s Justice League (2017). He trained hard in preparation for the film and boasted a jacked physique transformation.
