Mitchell Hooper Wins 2024 Arnold Strongman Classic UK

The 2024 Arnold Strongman Classic (ASC) UK, held from March 16-17, 2024, in Birmingham, England, saw the reigning two-time Arnold Strongman Classic US and 2023 World’s Strongest Man (WSM) champion hoist the gold. Mitchell Hooper donned the 2024 ASC UK crown after five events against some of the world’s top strongmen.

The 2024 ASC UK featured the following events: Austrian Oak, Farmer’s Walk, Power Medley (Yoke and Heavy Dumbbell), Bag Over Bar, and Deadlift. The contest featured the second competition for 2018 WSM Hafthor Björnsson since his return to the pro strongman scene. He finished with the silver medal.

Hooper stood atop the podium via 34.5 of a possible 40 points. The final standings are below:

2024 Arnold Strongman Classic Event Results

Below are the results for each of the five contested events in Birmingham:

Austrian Oak

Athletes were given 90 seconds to lift 195 or 175 kilograms for as many reps as possible. Any rep with the heavier weight outranked any number of reps with the lighter weight.

  2. Lucas Hatton — Three reps (195 kilograms) (T-first)
  3. Bobby Thompson — Two reps (195 kilograms)
  4. Maxime Boudreault — Two reps (175 kilograms)

  6. Gavin Bilton — One rep (175 kilograms) (T-fifth)
  7. Oskar Ziółkowskino lift
  8. Rauno Heinlano lift

Farmer’s Walk

With 60 seconds on the clock, each strongman carried 181 kilograms for distance; up and down a 15-meter course. Athletes were allowed to drop and regrip once per 15-meter length.

  3. Lucas Hatton — 17.9 meters

Power Medley

With a two-and-a-half-minute time cap, each strongman traversed a 454-kilogram yoke 15 meters before lifting three heavy dumbbells weighing 110, 120, and 130 kilograms. The yoke and dumbbells totaled four reps.

  2. Mitchell Hooper — Three in 39.78 seconds
  3. Hafthor Björnsson — Two in 69.73 seconds
  4. Maxime Boudreault — Two in 106.18 seconds
  5. Bobby Thompson — One in 21.24 seconds
  6. Rauno Heinla — One in 28.71 seconds
  7. Oskar Ziółkowski — One in 37.58 seconds
  8. Gavin Bilton — 1.5 meters

Bag Over Bar

With a 25-kilogram implement, athletes established their max height.

  4. Oskar Ziółkowski — 5.49 meters (T-third)

Deadlift

This event was for reps with 350 kilograms and a time cap of 60 seconds.

  4. Lucas Hatton — Seven reps (T-fourth)
  5. Bobby Thompson — Seven reps (T-fourth)

The next major strongman contests are the 2024 Europe’s Strongest Man (ESM) contest is scheduled for April 13, 2024, at the First Direct Arena in Leeds, England, and the 2024 World’s Strongest Man (WSM) contest from May 1-5, 2024, in Myrtle Beach, SC.
