On Jan. 8, 2024, PUMA launches their re-engineered FUSE 3.0 training shoe, the latest in the FUSE franchise. The FUSE 3.0 received a significant silhouette makeover, allows wearers a wider foot splay to increase stability, and a “dual-density internal midsole with a firm heel and flexible forefoot is wrapped in an improved PUMAGRIP rubber compound,” per PUMA’s press release.
The PUMA FUSE 3.0 training shoes feature FuseFlex metatarsal flex grooves for improved traction during explosive movements. The redesign includes a HEX TPU heel clip, a poly mesh, and a TPU-coated yarn knit upper.

The previous iteration of the FUSE franchise was the FUSE 2.0, released in the fall of 2022. For reference, here are the features from FUSE 2.0 that have either remained or been improved in FUSE 3.0:
- PUMAGRIP — multi-surface traction rubber grip technology.
- The HEX TPU heel clip is made from lightweight thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) and is intended for more comfortable handstand push-ups.
- Internal midsole designed for “a stable stance during training workouts.”
2020 CrossFit Games silver-medalist Sam Kwant is a PUMA-sponsored athlete who touted the FUSE 3.0 as “hands down the best CrossFit shoe I have ever worn. Kwant has competed in six CrossFit Games, most recently ranking 15th overall in 2023.
The 2024 CrossFit Open will kick off on Feb. 29, 2024, with workout 24.1. The PUMA FUSE 3.0 became available on Jan. 8, 2024, on PUMA.com, the PUMA mobile app, at the PUMA NYC flagship and select retailers for $120 USD MSRP.
