Arnold’s Son, Joseph Baena Shares Quad-Pumping Leg Day To Start The Week

Arnold’s Son, Joseph Baena Shares Quad-Pumping Leg Day To Start The Week

Joseph Baena shared a post showing off how he starts his weeks off right in the gym.
Joseph Baena was born into bodybuilding greatness and is making sure to keep it in the family. Baena is a multi-talented figure who maintains an impressive physique while working on some projects on the big screen. In a recent social media post, Baena shared how he starts his week with a quad-pumping leg workout.
Baena’s father, Arnold Schwarzenegger, is widely regarded as the greatest bodybuilder of all-time. He is a seven-time Olympia champion and completely changed the sport of bodybuilding over the course of his career. Baena has clearly inherited a passion for fitness and remains active in the gym.
On Instagram, Baena has shared different workouts and even has taken on some poses that his father made famous during his time on stage. This time, it was an Instagram post that showed off a leg day at the beginning of the week.
Joseph Baena Begins The Week By Hitting Quads
Joseph Baena began gaining attention for his physique when he was able to show it off while working on his project, Lava. He has continued to work on his physique and is not shy about sharing some insight.
“It’s Monday! Time to get up and get after it!!!
Started the week off with legs. What are you hitting?”

Joseph Baena shared a squat video on Instagram showing off his quad gains. He is wearing a lifting belt during this lift. It is clear that he has learned plenty from his father about training in the gym and following a strict diet plan. This has helped him become what he is today. The real question is, does Baena have any interest in performing on stage?
Baena has shown interest in bodybuilding in the past but that seems to have taken a backseat to acting in recent years. In any physique updates, he does not have the size yet but it could be added quickly thanks to his genetics. For now, Baena continues to focus on acting, which is another area where his father excelled.
It is always important to hit a Monday hard in the gym and Joseph Baena made sure to do just that.

Arnold Schwarzenegger Gets Huge Pump On Arm Day Ahead Of 75th Birthday

Arnold Schwarzenegger Gets Huge Pump On Arm Day Ahead Of 75th Birthday

Arnold Schwarzenegger is still focused on his fitness at 74 years old.
When you build a reputation as the best bodybuilder of all-time, there are standards to keep up. Arnold Schwarzenegger is doing just that at 74 years old. Since his days on stage, Schwarzenegger has been successful in many avenues but he has always been dedicated to fitness. Recently, Schwarzenegger shared a workout post to social media showing off an arm day.
Schwarzenegger was preparing to speak about climate change at the Austrian World Summit. Before taking the stage to speak, the bodybuilding legend was able to get a lift in.
“Getting pumped earlier for today’s Austrian World Summit. Tune in at 3:30 AM EST – 30 minutes!”

— Arnold (@Schwarzenegger) June 14, 2022

Arnold Schwarzenegger does not post gym photos often. This was a rare occasion where he took to Twitter to share a picture while training. Despite not sharing to social media much while in the gym, it is clear that Schwarzenegger has been able to keep up with his fitness regularly.

Arnold Schwarzenegger Diet Plan
Arnold Schwarzenegger came over from Austria and completely changed bodybuilding. He completely dominated the sport for years using his massive physique and intense workout programs. Schwarzenegger is a seven-time Olympia champion, which is tied for second most all-time.
In 1980, Schwarzenegger returned to the biggest show of the year following some time off. This showed that he was able to keep himself in championship shape even off the stage. Ahead of his 75th birthday, Schwarzenegger has shown that he is still in great shape.
In February, Arnold Schwarzenegger claimed to be on an 80% plant-based diet. This is something he claims to be on for the past five years. While he continues to eat some meat, Schwarzenegger was interested in improving his overall health. Obviously, this is not a diet that Schwarzenegger followed during his time on stage given the fact that he had to build an elite physique.
It does not look like Arnold Schwarzenegger is going to stop working out anytime soon. Despite being involved in many other projects over the years, the bodybuilder still wants to keep his legendary physique in shape.

‘Shake Every Hand, Kiss Every Baby’: Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Advice To Will Smith On How To Become A Star

‘Shake Every Hand, Kiss Every Baby’: Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Advice To Will Smith On How To Become A Star

Will Smith once approached Arnold Schwarzenegger asking for advice on his career.
Arnold Schwarzenegger is known is bodybuilding as being the best competitor to ever step on stage. To those outside of the sport, Schwarzenegger has many other avenues that he is known for. Schwarzenegger built a huge career on the big screen as well and this is where some could have been looking for advice, including Will Smith.
Schwarzenegger might have won seven Olympia titles over the course of his career but he is also known for his work in Hollywood. Known for The Terminator series, Schwarzenegger was one of the biggest action movie stars during his time. He served as an inspiration for many because of where he came from and what he was able to build for himself in America.

Will Smith spoke on advice that he was given from Schwarzenegger when they encountered each other during an opening of Planet Hollywood. Schwarzenegger’s advice was simple — grow your brand.
“You are not a movie star if your movies are only successful in America. You are not a movie star until every person in every country on earth knows who you are. You have to travel the globe, shake every hand, kiss every baby. Think of yourself as a politician running for the Biggest Movie Star in the World,” Arnold Schwarzenegger told will smith.
Arnold Schwarzenegger was able to tie in acting and politics. Schwarzenegger was also known for being elected the governor of California.

At the opening of this famous restaurant, Smith said he noticed Schwarzenegger having a conversation with Sylvester Stallone and Bruce Willis. Smith referred to them as the “Three Wise Men” when it comes to action movie stars. He felt like he needed to ask advice since he was looking to each that area.
At this year’s Oscars, Smith made headlines for different reasons. First, he won his first-ever Oscar for his performance in King Richard. Prior to winning the award, Smith shocked the world by slapping Chris Rock on stage after he made a joke about Smith’s wife, Jada Pinkett Smith.
If there is a well-rounded individual who can give advice in many areas, Arnold Schwarzenegger is near the top of the list. He may have made headlines over the last year or so for his strong opinions but no one can take away what he has accomplished over the course of his lifetime.

Arnold Schwarzenegger Shares Advice From Reg Park That Changed His Life

Arnold Schwarzenegger Shares Advice From Reg Park That Changed His Life

Arnold Schwarzenegger shares career changing advice from Reg Park.
Arnold Schwarzenegger shares the advice given to him by Reg Park that really changed his life and career. The legendary bodybuilder shared what his idol had to tell him in his most recent newsletter.
It’s great that we still have legends like Arnold Schwarzenegger around to talk about the good old days of the sport. There’s nothing quite like getting quality advice from a legend from a different era of the game. Schwarzenegger provides that and more as he is able to pass on teaching from those even older than him who showed him the ropes. Now the legend of the Golden Era is passing on the lessons his idol Reg Park gave him that helped shape his career.
Sage Advice
In a recent newsletter Arnold Schwarzenegger shared the piece of advice given to him by Reg Park that changed his life. Schwarzenegger spoke on the reality that he needed to put his pride to one side and allow Park’s criticisms to sink in.

“I actually love hearing criticism, because that’s how we improve. I told one of the redditors this story, and I thought it might be a good lesson for all of you.
“When I went to train with my hero, Reg Park, he pulled out a tape measure and measured my calves and my biceps.
“He said, “Arnold, your calves are 19 inches and your biceps are 21 inches. You might win Mr. Universe like this, but you’ll never go all the way. You need to build up your calves. Every step you take is a 250 pound calf raise. So to grow, you are going to have to go as heavy as possible, and you’re going to need to do 10-15 sets every single day.”

Putting Aside Ego
Arnold Schwarzenegger addressed how putting his ego aside and listening to Park pushed him to another level. By mastering his ego Schwarzenegger was able to take his physique to new heights.

“It rattled my cage so much because I was young and at first I thought, “I’m a Mr. Universe, why is he giving me a beating?” But I put aside my pride and I listened to him. I trained the hell out of my calves. I was loading the calf raise machine up to 700 pounds, doing 15 sets every day. I was hitting them with donkey raises with half the bodybuilders in the gym on my back. I left no stone unturned. I was relentless.
“I trained like Reg Park told me to, and the results were exactly what he said they would be: My calves were 21 inches and because of that, my body was much more symmetrical. Naturally, I thanked Reg for his advice. Even though it was painful to hear at first, it made me better, and I learned to turn off my ego and be grateful for criticism.”

Always Seeking to Improve

Arnold Schwarzenegger continued to discuss how he always looked for criticism to self improve.

“After every competition, I went to the judges and asked them to point out my flaws. Even when I won. I never wanted to hear about my strengths. I wanted to hear everything they thought was wrong so that I could continue to improve. I needed to hear my weak spots.
“Bodybuilders (hell, everyone) love to focus on their strong points, when we grow the most by doing the opposite. So when I criticize stomachs or calves, I’m hoping to be what Reg Park was for me. Honest criticism is how I grew.”

What do you think about Arnold Schwarzenegger and his advice to put the ego aside to achieve the best version of yourself?

10 Exercises To Add Variety In Your Next Workout

10 Exercises To Add Variety In Your Next Workout

Try these Exercises in Your Next Workout
Just like us humans, no two exercises are created equal. Most people stick to the same exercises in their workouts. Performing the same routines over and over can lead you to hit a plateau.
There are a few incredibly effective exercises which can target your muscles in a unique way. The exercises in this article will help you break the plateau and will take your gains to the next level.
Chest
Floor Dumbbell Chest Flyes
[embedded content]
Most people make the mistake of not following the full range of motion while performing the bench dumbbell flyes. The floor dumbbell flyes force you to touch the floor with your elbows at the bottom of the movement and touch the dumbbells at the top of the movement.
Incline Pin Press

[embedded content]
The upper pecs are a weak muscle group for most people. Incline pin presses are a great way to overload your upper pecs. Incline pin presses also add a layer of safety to the compound exercise.
Back
T-Bar Rows
T-Bar rows are one of the most underutilized exercises when it comes to building a thick back. The T-Bar rows were one of Arnold’s staples and they should also be a part of your exercise arsenal.
Bent Over Lat Pull-Down using Seated Cable Row
The problem with the normal lat pull-down is, you can use momentum to bring the weights down. Bent over lat pull-downs on the seated cable row will eliminate the use of momentum and you will have to use your lats to pull the weights.

Shoulders
Reverse Seated Alternate Hammer Strength Press
The normal shoulder presses focus on the anterior delts, while the reverse seated alternate hammer strength presses focus on the medial deltoids. The hammer strength presses will help you in building the separation and roundness of your shoulder caps.
Biceps
Arm Blaster Barbell Curls
[embedded content]
For most guys arms are their favorite muscle group to train. Most guys let their ego get in the way of building a nice pair of guns. The arm blaster helps in isolating your pythons and will help in building the size, conditioning, and the bicep peak.
30’s
[embedded content]
30’s will completely annihilate your biceps. In this exercise, you need to perform 10 reps of barbell curls on the bottom half, 10 reps on the top half and 10 full reps. 30’s are an extension of 21’s and are way harder.

Triceps
Cable One Arm Triceps Extensions
[embedded content]
Most people go too heavy on the cable triceps extensions and lean onto the bar. Stand straight next to the cable pulley machine and maintain a full range of motion. Hold and squeeze your triceps at the bottom of the movement.
Legs
Platz Hack Squats into Sissy Squats
[embedded content]
Tom Platz arguably had the sickest legs in the bodybuilding industry. One of his not-so-secrets were the Platz hack squat into sissy squats. This exercise targets your quads and will help you in building that tear-drop.
Good Mornings
[embedded content]
It is harder to develop your hamstrings as compared to your quads as you can’t see your hamstrings in the mirror and it is harder to develop a mind-muscle connection with them. Maintain a slight bend in your knees, push your hips back as you bend to lower the barbell. Imagine using your hams to lower the weights as compared to your back. Doing this will help you get a better pump.

Which is your favorite exercise? Let us know in the comments below. Also, be sure to follow Generation Iron on Facebook and Twitter.

Arnold and Logan Paul Announce Slap Fighting at Arnold Sports Festival

Arnold and Logan Paul Announce Slap Fighting at Arnold Sports Festival

Arnold Schwarzenegger and Logan Paul are getting into slap fighting.
It appears that Arnold Schwarzenegger and Logan Paul are getting into a slap fight. Well, not against each other. Schwarzenegger and Paul have agreed to put on a slap fighting competition at the upcoming 2022 Arnold Sports Festival.
Well this is certainly an unlikely turn of events. It appears that bodybuilding legend Arnold Schwarzenegger has chosen to spice things up for the Arnold Sports Festival. The festival has become well known for bringing all different kinds of sports to the event. With MMA, strongman, and other sports being highlighted, bringing another kind of event to the show isn’t out of the realm of possibility.
But no one could have been prepared for this.
It appears that Arnold Schwarzenegger and Logan Paul are bringing slap fighting to the Arnold Sports Festival. Both Schwarzenegger and Paul will be producing the event. Paul will even be live streaming the slap fighting competition on his YouTube channel.
Slap Fighting at the Arnold

The trailer for the event looks pretty intense. One thing is certain, they aren’t pulling any punches…or slaps.

Get ready to watch some brutal slaps March 5th in Columbus, Ohio with me and @loganpaul live and free on Logan’s YouTube and on @fanmio.

This is quite an unexpected turn of events. While seeing strength sports at the Arnold Sports Festival is no surprise, to see a slap fighting competition take center stage is a bit of a shock.
With that said there’s no doubt that intrigue is building for this event and how it play out. Arnold Schwarzenegger and Logan Paul working together to bring the masses this event is perhaps more shocking than the competition itself.

Tony Pearson: “I Spent My Whole Career Trying To Prove Something” To Joe Weider

Tony Pearson: “I Spent My Whole Career Trying To Prove Something” To Joe Weider

[embedded content]

Tony Pearson opens up about his relationship with Joe Weider, being banned from the IFBB Pro League, and later getting reinstated.
Tony Pearson is a pro bodybuilder known for his impressive physique in the 70s, 80s, 90s, and even some Masters competitions to this day. He also went viral (pre-internet version of viral, anyway) for being the bodybuilder that looked like Michael Jackson. But what some may not know is the rollercoaster history and relationship Pearson had with Joe Weider. In our latest GI Exclusive, Tony Pearson speaks openly about his complicated relationship with Joe Weider and how he was banned (and later reinstated) from the IFBB Pro league.
In our previous interview segment with Tony Pearson, we discussed his traumatic upbringing and how he discovered bodybuilding as an escape from poverty and abuse. After confirming his passion and making some progress as an amateur bodybuilder – he decided to move to Los Angeles to take the next step towards pro status. When Pearson landed in LA, he barely had any money to his name. He made his way to Gold’s Gym and simply sat there watching legends train. He couldn’t even afford a pass to actually train there.

What Tony Pearson could afford was a weekly pass to the Venice Beach outdoor training pen. This was his outlet for improving and making gains towards becoming pro. Eventually, he earned his first major victory at the Mr. Venice Beach. Shortly after, Arnold Schwarzenegger approached Pearson while he was training. Schwarzenegger acknowledged his accomplishments and was impressed by Pearson’s work ethic. He claimed that Pearson had what it took to become a true champion.
How Tony Pearson Met Joe Weider

Tony Pearson was only 19 years old at this point. This was a dream come true. The biggest legend in bodybuilding just gave Pearson a critique – and it was one that offered a glimpse to a future as a champion. Not only that, but Arnold Schwarzenegger wanted to connect Pearson with Joe Weider for a meeting. As any bodybuilder knows, Joe Weider at that time was the king of the sport. He could provide a “Weider Contract” – essentially providing a yearly salary as a career bodybuilder.
While nearly all bodybuilders knew of Joe Weider’s reputation, Tony Pearson didn’t know who he was at the time. But he met with Weider anyways – knowing that if it was set up by Schwarzenegger, it must be important. But upon arriving at the meeting, Joe Weider was unimpressed. He gave Pearson a quick look, was seemingly surprised that Schwarzenegger suggested Pearson, and then walked away asking one of his employees to write a short article on Pearson.
“It didn’t go very well with Joe. First thing he said was, ‘Arnold sent you here’ in that voice,” Tony Pearson stated in our interview. He impersonated a sarcastic or skeptical look when impersonating Joe Weider. He then continued:
“And he turned away and said Jack… write an article on this kid, Arnold sent him. And then he just walked away. So from that day forward, Joe and I never got along. He never accepted me. I spent my whole career trying to prove something.”
Vlad Yudin follows up by asking if he was specifically trying to prove something to Joe Weider. Tony Pearson confirms that yes – that moment hang onto his consciousness and motivated him to improve every step of the way.
Tony Pearson’s Ban From The IFBB Pro League
Later down the road, Tony Pearson was finding himself continuing to improve in the sport – but he was still unable to earn enough money to survive. He was offered a guest posing routine abroad – but the event was not sanctioned by the IFBB. Pearson found himself torn between loyalty and earning a living financially. He made the decision to guest pose. Shortly after that he was banned for life by the IFBB.
Perhaps somewhat ironically, this ultimately led to a successful path for Tony Pearson. He continued to compete in other leagues and also had free rein to guest pose in any league that wanted him – without worry of sanctions. He gained popularity and became a pro bodybuilder.
How Does Tony Pearson See Joe Weider’s Legacy?
After his success, it was suggested to him that he write a letter to Jim Manion and the IFBB Pro league – asking to be reinstated. He took the advice and the letter worked. Pearson found himself back in the IFBB and able to compete in the biggest league in the sport. Despite this, throughout his entire career, Tony Pearson never got on 100% good terms with Joe Weider up until his passing.
Looking back, Tony Pearson regrets nothing and holds nothing personal against Joe Weider. He is aware that beyond his personal relationship with him, Weider transformed bodybuilding into what it is today. Without him – there would be no size and scope behind the sport as there is now.
You can watch Tony Pearson’s full comments on Joe Weider and his rollercoaster ride through the IFBB Pro league in our latest GI Exclusive interview segment above!

Arnold Schwarzenegger Discusses Plant-Based Diet He Has Been On For Five Years

Arnold Schwarzenegger Discusses Plant-Based Diet He Has Been On For Five Years

Arnold Schwarzenegger has mainly followed this diet plan for half a decade.
Arnold Schwarzenegger continues to be a huge voice in bodybuilding and fitness. He sculpted one of the best physiques of all-time in the gym using some massive lifts. Out of the gym, his lifestyle was up for the challenge and he has continued some of his diet tricks to this day. Schwarzenegger recently discussed his plant-based diet, which he has been following for the last five years.
Schwarzenegger has been standing by this diet plan at an 80% clip. In his recent newsletter, the legendary bodybuilder discussed the benefits of this diet along with some of the foods that are difficult to turn down.

““I have been about 80% plant-based for the past 5 years of my life. Even though I still eat meat sometimes, because I can’t resist a juicy steak when I have friends over or a crispy wiener schnitzel in Austria, I mostly eat plant-based because it is better for my overall health, and as my friend Jim Cameron taught me, better for the environment because the clearing of forests and the raising of animals for meat causes so much pollution,” Arnold Schwarzenegger said.
Arnold Schwarzenegger made it clear that he is not only following this diet plan because of his health. He is also interested in the impact that it has on the environment. He mentions that pollution is a major factor in the United States. Schwarzenegger claims that eating less meat means that less and less forests will be cleared, ultimately creating more food for animals.
Along with the impact that it has on the environment, Schwarzenegger discussed what the diet has done for his health. His cholesterol is very low because of it and this has helped him feel better all-around.
“My bad cholesterol number is so low that my Doctor thought I might be a different person and feel healthier and younger overall. If any of you have recently gone vegan, what are your favorite recipes? And if any of you are thinking about going vegan, what’s stopping you? Send me an email with the subject VEGAN and let me know!”

This is not a diet that Arnold Schwarzenegger followed during his competition days. There are some critics who believe this would not work for active athletes. Now that Schwarzenegger has been off the stage for years and years now, it is the perfect time to give this diet a shot. It seems to be working for him.
This is the perfect diet for a person looking to take in less meat and drop cholesterol levels. For an athlete who wants to maintain mass, specifically bodybuilders, this might not be the direction to go while competing.

Arnold Schwarzenegger Pays Tribute To Director Ivan Reitman

Arnold Schwarzenegger Pays Tribute To Director Ivan Reitman

Arnold Schwarzenegger worked closely with Ivan Reitman on many projects.
After a bodybuilding career that dubbed him the greatest of all-time, Arnold Schwarzenegger took his talents to the big screen. This is where he worked with director Ivan Reitman on many projects and the duo got to know each other well. After the passing of Reitman, Schwarzenegger took to Instagram to pay tribute to his former colleague and friend.
Reitman passed away at the age of 75 at his home in Montecito, CA on Saturday. The cause of death has not been specified at the time of the announcement. Reitman found great success directing comedies such as “Animal House” and “Stripes.” He worked with the likes of Bill Murray and John Belushi, along with Schwarzenegger, during his career.

Together, Ivan Reitman and Arnold Schwarzenegger put together “Kindergarten Cop” and “Twins,” which also featured Danny DeVito. On Tuesday, Schwarzenegger shared a heartfelt tribute to the director.
“Ivan Reitman is a legend. In Hollywood, he was bigger than life. He was comedy royalty.
In life, he was a mensch – a wonderful father and husband, a fantastic friend, a great human being. He was kind, he was generous, he was smart as hell, and he was always there for you.
I am devastated, and my thoughts are with the Reitman family.”

Arnold Schwarzenegger continued by describing how Ivan Reitman took a chance on him from the beginning. Schwarzenegger became a massive figure in bodybuilding and was able to use his impressive physique and charisma to put together a successful movie career.
“If you knew him, Ivan had a way of making himself a part of your story, and he certainly wrote a chunk of mine. I’ll always be grateful that he took a chance on this Austrian action-hero in a comedy during a time when the studios just wanted me to focus on finding new ways to kill bad guys, blow things up, and show off some muscles. I knew I could make it in comedy, but I needed someone else to know it to make it a reality. That’s why Ivan was a great director and friend: he could see something in you that other people didn’t, and he could help you show the rest of the world.”

Schwarzenegger ended his tribute by describing some experiences that the two had while putting together films.
“Making Twins, Junior, and Kindergarten Cop with Ivan was heaven for me. Spending the last few years working with him on Triplets, and once again seeing his passion and genius up close, was a joy. Just last week, I was talking about how excited I was to be on set again with Ivan this fall.”
Arnold Schwarzenegger remains an active voice in bodybuilding and beyond. It is clear the impact that Ivan Reitman made on his career and this led to a great tribute from the former bodybuilding champion.

Joseph Baena Shares His Old School Workout Inspired By Arnold Schwarzenegger

Joseph Baena Shares His Old School Workout Inspired By Arnold Schwarzenegger

Joseph Baena takes more inspiration from his father, Arnold Schwarzenegger, as he shows off his old school bodybuilding workout.
Over the years, Joseph Baena has been turning heads in the bodybuilding world. Perhaps initially known best simply for being Arnold Schwarzenegger‘s son, Baena has been building even more attention as he’s slowly sculpted an impressive bodybuilding physique of his own. Certainly the genetics are working in his favor – as his physique has begged the question: will we ever see Joseph Baena compete in bodybuilding.
We may not have an answer to that at the moment. But we do know that Joseph Baena has continued to build his identity as a bodybuilder and lover of fitness. Physique updates often grab attention and headlines. And while Baena certainly gained some genetic graces from his father, he is certainly putting in the hard work on his own merits.

So it’s even more exciting that Joseph Baena recently shared his workout routine with Men’s Health in an extensive cover story. Taking a page from his father, the workout is clearly inspired by the Golden Era of bodybuilding. Let’s break down Baena’s journey towards a muscular physique and his workout below.
How Joseph Baena Discovered Bodybuilding

Joseph Baena first found an interest in weightlifting and bodybuilding through competitive swimming. Shortly after, Arnold Schwarzenegger gifted Baena a copy of The Encyclopedia of Modern Bodybuilding – which, of course, was written by Schwarzenegger himself. The two then started training in the gym together. What better training partner can you ask for than 7x Olympia champion Arnold Schwarzenegger?
And while his father is a major inspiration and motivational factor in Joseph Baena’s growing physique – he also clearly is looking to put his own modern spin as he continues to train. In speaking with Men’s Health, he had this to say about his journey into bodybuilding:
“My father really inspires me… he kind of created the ideal physique for most people… do I want to have the same physique? I don’t know if I can.”
It’s clear the Joseph Baena has a bit of humorous self-deprecation in talking about his own physique. A clear difference between his father’s cocky attitude as seen in Pumping Iron. Regardless, the true message is in the physique and the hard work put into training.

Regardless of being Arnold Schwarzenegger’s son – this workout and his latest physique updates prove that he is a man who is willing to put in the hard work for impressive muscle. And more than that – he’s bodybuilder in the truest sense of the word. He has a passion for weightlifting.
