Big Ramy Shuts Down Rumors Of Being Smaller, Shares Current Weight Of 335 Pounds
Big Ramy joined Dennis James to discuss his current weight.
Big Ramy has been back in his home country training and preparing to compete for his third consecutive Olympia title. The Egyptian bodybuilder has brought an insane physique to the stage, with great muscle mass and conditioning, over the previous two competitions. This time around, Big Ramy looks on pace to be even bigger.
There have been some rumors out there that Big Ramy has looked smaller this offseason. He joined Dennis James for a conversation on Instagram live on Monday to discuss many topics around bodybuilding. This includes Big Ramy’s current weight of 335 pounds.
“You don’t even fit in the frame anymore. You’re too big for the camera.”
“I don’t know what’s wrong with my camera,” Big Ramy responded jokingly.
It was clear by the first look in the video that Big Ramy did not lose much size this offseason. In fact, he continues to sculpt his physique in a big way. James decided to ask Ramy what his current weight was.
“People think you’re smaller now. What’s your current weight?”
“152,” Big ramy responded.
Big Ramy responded in kilograms before Dennis James got the exact translation into pounds.

“For all the people who think he’s smaller now, he’s about..let me get the exact number. 334.4 pounds.”
Current State Of Bodybuilding In Egypt
The conversation turned to how Egyptian bodybuilders are becoming more prevalent on stage. Big Ramy reflected on a time where he was the only competitor in a given show. Now, there are many that will be competing in the Olympia.
“We have three in Open, one in Physique,” big ramy said.
“That’s got to be great for Egypt. You got the home team representing the country,” dennis james responded.
Competitors like Hassan Mostafa and Ahmed El Wardany have been representing Egypt, along with Big Ramy, over the years. Both Ramy and James believe that the overall knowledge of the sport has gone up and this has helped sculpt some elite competitors.
“They needed the knowledge. Before, they had the genetics and the strength. Now, they have the knowledge and you are starting to see it.”
Big Ramy has been hard at work training to take home yet another Olympia title. If he continues on this path, he will have an even bigger physique to show off come December.

Tony Huge Responds To Dennis James Over Big Ramy’s Deal With Enhanced Labs
Tony Huge responds to Dennis James recent comments on the Big Ramy and Enhanced Labs controversy
Former IFBB Pro and current coach Dennis James recently made comments about Big Ramy’s deal with Enhanced Labs. When the two-time Olympia champion was allegedly offered a new contract behind the back of his coach, James called the company “unprofessional” and a “clusterf**k.”
In an exclusive conversation with Generation Iron, Tony Huge responded to the comments made by James regarding business with Enhanced Labs.
“Dennis was brought on simply to be the liaison to help get content. But it didn’t happen. That’s fine. Ramy is a Middle East A-list celebrity with more money and influence than he ever could’ve imagined. He’s a super nice guy and a bodybuilding and success story champion. I think it’s fantastic that Enhanced supported him. But Enhanced marketing is based on cutting edge honest and revolutionary educational content. Ramy could be a tremendous benefit to Enhanced if he was interested in giving value to the American audience.”
Tony Huge Expresses Interest In Continuing Business If Done Right
The allure of working with Big Ramy was there for Huge and Enhanced Labs if it was done right. Huge continued to discuss how business is done in 2022. It might be different than how it was done years ago.
“As for the Dennis thing, I would love to work more with Ramy. I used to talk to him at every expo and even met up with him at Oxygen Gym in Kuwait years ago when he was training for Olympia. So I was excited to work with him and produce some next level content.
I don’t see any meaningful content on YouTube or Instagram. Enhanced isn’t asking for a refund but it also can’t continue paying a liaison who isn’t able to liaison. But also understand I’m not a party to the contract, I didn’t have any business communication with Dennis or Ramy. The only contact I had was trying to get content for which I was unable to get from them.”
Big Ramy has turned into a superstar in the Middle East and this is the reason he might be working on different projects in his home country. If there is time to contribute in other ways, Huge would be open to working with the duo once again.
“If Ramy is ready to rock and roll and do some content for the American audience then I am also ready and I’d love to work with him. But I also understand he has a lot of other projects that take his attention so I think if I was in his position I would also focus on the Middle East and also not waste time on America.”
Tony Huge: “Content Is King In 2022”
Having big-name sponsors is important for any company in any area but in the media today, there has to be content provided. The name alone is not as important as the content being put out anymore.
After Dennis James made his comments, Tony Huge decided to inquire about sales within Enhanced.
“I asked Enhanced what the effect of Dennis complaining was and it resulted in a bigger boost in sales than when he was sponsored. Which goes to prove exactly what I try to tell Enhanced and the community that you can’t just stick someone’s picture on a bottle. Content is king in 2022. If Dennis would have done content like this before then he would’ve been able to produce a lot of sales.”
They say that there is no such thing as bad publicity and this recent engagement between James and Enhanced is a prime example. Even if the content provided is negative toward one side, the publicity gets the name out there and could boost sales or engagement in a big way.
Tony Huge continued by explaining how this could continue if James put the energy in producing content for Enhanced and promoting different sales.
“If Dennis put that same energy into promoting sales before then he would’ve been a good investment and he still could. He still could get on board with Enhanced and increase sales. He just needs to understand again that a bodybuilder reputation isn’t alone valuable enough to increase sales. In 2022, it takes work. The old generation of bodybuilders are going to really need to learn to adapt or become obsolete.
In the end, Tony Huge reiterated his claim that he would still be open to working with Dennis James and Big Ramy if they have the time and desire.
“I love helping bodybuilders get exposure and produce content. And I’m still here to help Dennis if he wants. And I would still love to do content with Ramy if any of his time and energy gets freed up from his obligations in the Middle East.
“Anyways I stand ready to help Dennis and Ramy if they have the time, energy, and desire.”

Big Ramy Says He Could Retire In One Year: ‘ I Will Stop Bodybuilding At 38 Years Old’
Big Ramy claims that he is one year away from his desired retirement date.
Big Ramy has reached the pinnacle of bodybuilding. He is the reigning two-time Olympia champion but might have just one appearance left on the biggest stage. During an interview with the RWA Podcast, Big Ramy explained how he might be one year away from his retirement from competition.
Big Ramy joined the podcast and discussed some personal topics, including his experiences at Oxygen Gym and his plans for the upcoming Olympia. He believes that he will win his third consecutive Olympia but could it be the last? Ramy claims that he has had a plan to retire from competition at 38 years old. At 37, this leaves just one year.
“I’ve decided since the beginning that I will stop bodybuilding at 38 years old. My kids still ask me about it. I tell them 38 hasn’t come yet. When it comes, we’ll talk,” Big Ramy said.
Will Big Ramy Retire If He Wins A Third Title?
This is a conversation that can be had after Big Ramy’s comments, especially after missing the 2022 Pittsburgh Pro. On Tim Budesheim’s YouTube channel, Dennis James provided an update on Big Ramy.
It was explained that Big Ramy was prepared to appear on stage as a guest poser in Pittsburgh. Once he was ready to travel, there was an issue that came up. This issue was not revealed. This raised some questions on Big Ramy appearing at different events.
Now, Big Ramy is preparing to win the Olympia once again. Would he actually decide to hang it up after three consecutive titles? If he does, he does not know what would be next but he would still remain a massive figure in bodybuilding.
“I don’t know what I’ll do after 38 but this is something I’ve decided a long time ago. I’m 37. There’s one more year left,” Big Ramy said.
Big Ramy has built one of the best physiques in the world and has a chance to go on a real tear at the Olympia. At 37 years old, it is unknown if he would be able to approach the all-time record of eight victories, held by Ronnie Coleman and Lee Haney. After his recent comments, there might not be interest from Ramy to go on in competition.

Big Ramy Breaks Silence: Apologizes To Jim Manion & IFBB Pro
Big Ramy issues a direct apology to Jim Manion, the IFBB Pro league, and the fans for missing the 2022 Pittsburgh Pro.
After a long period of silence, Big Ramy has issued a direct statement apologizing to Jim Manion and the IFBB Pro league for his unexplained guest posing absence at the 2022 Pittsburgh Pro. His apology comes after a wide amount of criticism from fellow athletes, coaches, and fans. While Ramy does directly apologize, he still does not provide a detailed reason for why he missed the guest posing – other than citing “personal issues.”
The 2022 Pittsburgh Pro is one of the most exciting pro competitions of the year. This is largely because of the massive selection of super star guest posers that appear to pay tribute to IFBB Pro president Jim Manion. This year, Big Ramy was the featured headliner for the guest posing event. However, Ramy did not appear. Instead, Derek Lunsford jumped on stage last minute to replace him.
Fans were confused – and we later found out that even Big Ramy’s own coach Dennis James was confused as well. There was no advance notice of Ramy’s absence. In fact, even after the Pittsburgh Pro event, which was on May 6-7th, Ramy and his team were virtually silent with no explanation. Now just two and a half weeks later, Ramy has opened up and spoken directly for the first time about the issue.
You can watch Big Ramy’s official statement, which was posted on Instagram, below:
In the video, Big Ramy appears solemn and somewhat reserved. He acknowledges that he has been silent for quite some time – and then jumps directly into an apology to Jim Manion:
“Hey guys, I know I have been absent for a while now and I would like to explain to you all what has been happening. First I would like to apologize to Mr. Jim Manion and IFBB Pro league for not coming to the Pittsburgh Pro.”
Big Ramy then moves on to mention the reason for his inability to make it to the Pittbsurgh Pro event. However, he does not give much detail at all – stating that he cannot go into detail about the situation for an undisclosed reason.
“Due to personal reason that I cannot go into details about, I can’t fly to Pittsburgh. It’s nothing hurts me more than to know I missed that event and I let many people down. Mr. Jim Manion and last bodybuilding fans, I am very sorry from the bottom of my heart.”
Big Ramy then takes a moment to confirm that he is still dedicated to being a champion bodybuilder – and always strives to do what is best for the sport. But he also acknowledges that he is human and that mistakes do happen and will likely happen again in the future.
“I think you all know, I am from day one I start bodybuilding, I try to do my best to be a good guy for any person he need to be a bodybuilder. Maybe I make some mistakes but I am a human and I know in the future I will make some mistakes because I am still a human.”
Big Ramy is the current and 2x Mr. Olympia champion. With that crown comes a responsibility to the sport. Many fans look up to him as a champion and expect the best attitude and performance from his presence year after year. His silence and his absence at the Pittsburgh Pro, to many, was unbefitting of a Mr. Olympia champion.
That being said, Big Ramy has finally addressed the fans, his fellow athletes, and the league directly. This will likely build, perhaps, some good will in those who have been waiting for some sort of answer.
On the flip side, Big Ramy still is not able to give a specific reason for missing the show or his silence. Perhaps it truly is a private issue that he cannot publicly comment on. However, there will be some who see this as a cop out and a non satisfying answer.
Regardless of how the larger community reacts to this – his apology will hopefully put this conversation behind us and allow the sport to look forward towards Big Ramy’s next showing at the Mr. Olympia later this year.
Generation Iron will update this article as more information becomes available. Until then, stick around the Generation Iron Fitness Network for news and coverage on all things bodybuilding, strength sports, and fitness.
Dennis James Unfiltered: Claims Big Ramy Made A “Mistake Not To Show Up In Pittsburgh”
Dennis James states he is “disappointed” with Big Ramy and believes skipping Pittsburgh was a bad call.
Dennis James got candid in a recent roundtable interview regarding Big Ramy, his absence at the Pittsburgh Pro, and what this means for his future as the current Mr. Olympia champion. James has been working with Ramy and helped prepare him during Olympia prep alongside other coaches – which eventually earned him the Mr. Olympia title in 2020 and 2021. In this new interview, it appears that Dennis James himself has no clue what really happened, why Ramy missed the 2022 Pittsburgh Pro, and claims to be “worried” and “disappointed” in Ramy’s recent actions and lack of communication.
The main takeaway from the interview is that Dennis James has not heard from Big Ramy since the Pittsburgh Pro – and it has him worried. James has been deeply involved with Ramy’s Mr. Olympia prep over the past few years. In fact, James even let Ramy stay at his house in the United States to finish his contest prep in 2021 before the Olympia.
Dennis James is a legend both on stage in his former active competition years and as a bodybuilding coach in recent years. So for James to still have no clarity on what exactly happened after Big Ramy skipped the Pittsburgh Pro is a bit of a shock. Even more shocking is that James was at the Pittsburgh Pro ready to help with last minute prep before the guest posing. Up until the very day of the show – James expected to see Ramy. He has yet to hear or see him since.
Dennis James gets candid about Big Ramy and his absence at the 2022 Pittsburgh Pro
During the roundtable interview with Muscle & Fitness, Dennis James didn’t hold back with his info and thoughts on Big Ramy and the Pittsburgh Pro. It’s clear that there are a lot of gaps to still fill in – but James was as honest as he can be with the information he currently knows:
“Everybody has some stories you know, and I’m going through the internet trying to find out what happened because I don’t even know. I seriously don’t know. I don’t know. I was there to support him because we agreed that I’d come to Pittsburgh to help him out. I was there. He was the one that didn’t show up.”
Listen, all I know is that he’s okay, supposedly. I haven’t spoken to him. I reached out a couple of times, he didn’t respond, and I didn’t hear anything back. I’m still waiting to hear from him to find out what really happened.” Dennis James says.
While Dennis James does not know why Big Ramy missed the 2022 Pittsburgh Pro guest posing – he does at the very least know that it was not a medical emergency. He has been told that Ramy is stable and fine. However, he did not receive an answer as to what really happened.
Due to having no given excuse after so many weeks, Dennis James is “worried” and considers that Big Ramy missing the guest posing was a mistake. As he goes on to explain:
“I still don’t know what happened. I still don’t know. All I know, I think that was a big mistake not to show up in Pittsburgh.”
Dennis James then goes on to state that he fully expected Big Ramy to be present at the 2022 Pittsburgh Pro literally up until the day of the event. James was at the event and waiting for Ramy to appear for final prep. He never came. This is what concerns James most – the lack of communication.
Knowing now that a medical emergency is out of the cards – what possible excuse can Ramy have for not showing up and not informing Dennis James about his absence. Even further, with weeks having passed since the event – how is it that James still has received no contact or answer?
Whatever the reason is, Dennis James is currently very concerned and, frankly, confused as to how this will effect the future of Big Ramy’s career. He goes on to state:
“Man. I don’t know. I don’t think it’s… I don’t know, it’s not good. I still hope that he will contact me and fill me in on what happened… The main thing for me is, i just want to know, what is he thinking not going there without calling and excusing himself in any way shape or form? that’s the only thing that bothers me a little bit right now.”
Dennis James continued:
I don’t know. I really don’t. I’m disappointed. I’m kind of disappointed, and I’m kind of worried, to the point where I’m like ‘what’s going on’ because i talked to him, two days before he was suposed to leave. I said, ‘Listen, make sure everything is good, don’t miss your flight’ because I know he missed a couple of flights here and there by accident… like I said, I don’t have an excuse for him. I’m not going to make up any excuses. we will have to see what happens. what comes from him when he’s ready to talk I guess.”
What does Big Ramy’s absence mean for the future of the 2022 bodybuilding season?
Ultimately, Dennis James has no new information as to what happened with Big Ramy’s 2022 Pittsburgh Pro absence. But James has become one of many who are worried and concerned for what it means for Ramy’s career. However, James is open to hearing a valid excuse when Big Ramy is ready to give it. Only time will tell if we get that response or not.
Regardless of Big Ramy’s absence, the 2022 Pittsburgh Pro was an exciting event that gave us the special surprise of Derek Lunsford guest posing. Not only that – but his massive size has spurred rumors that he may go up to Men’s Open in the future. Those rumors were further stocked by Hany Rambod admitting that Men’s Open is “not if, but when…”

PHOTOS: Derek Lunsford Stole The Show During His Guest Posing At The 2022 Pittsburgh Pro
Derek Lunsford shocked fans with a massive guest posing at the star studded 2022 Pittsburgh Pro.
Derek Lunsford gave us an up close and personal look at his latest physique during his guest posing at the 2022 Pittsburgh Pro – which commenced on May 7, 2022. This is Lunsford’s first on stage appearance of 2022. While this is still a strong seven months away from the Mr. Olympia, it provides fans with some insight into his offseason physique as he trains to potentially win his third Olympia title later this year.
The Pittsburgh Pro is a notable pro bodybuilding competition for being run by IFBB Pro and NPC president Jim Manion himself. Due to this, the Pittsburgh Pro always has a star studded roster of elite IFBB Pro competitors take the stage to guest pose. Beyond Derek Lunsford, Brandon Curry, Nick Walker, and Hunter Labrada all took the stage to guest pose as well.
Many fans were expecting to see Big Ramy take the stage at the Pittsburgh Pro – but he ended up being a no-show. Instead, Derek Lunsford made a surprise appearance and looked truly massive. In fact, many fans were pointing out that he looked as large or even larger than many of the Men’s Open competitors who guest posed alongside him that night.
Derek Lunsford is the current Men’s 212 Olympia champion – but his physique here showed that he could truly hold an impressive and controlled physique weighing well over the 212 limit.
Derek Lunsford is the number one competitor to beat at the 2022 Men’s 212 Olympia. Lunsford truly shocked and impressed at the 2021 Olympia, knocking out the returning champion Shaun Clarida. After many years of impressive showings, Lunsford transformed into perfection that night with a shock and awe performance. Many believe that if he could keep that kind of consistency, he will be an Olympia champion for years to come.
Most notable this weekend was the fact that Derek Lunsford was the only non-Men’s Open competitor guest posing. Derek Lunsford took the stage alongside Brandon Curry, Nick Walker, and Hunter Labrada. Not only did Lunsford look impressive in his own right – he looked fantastic standing side by side with the other Men’s Open competitors. This spurred many fans to wonder if he will one day transition into the Men’s Open division.
Many Men’s 212 competitors have transitioned to Men’s Open over the past few years. Most notable is Hadi Choopan – who has placed in the top five consistently in Men’s Open at the Olympia. Perhaps Lunsford can have the same kind of success if he transitioned upwards. He can hold much more size and height that Choopan – which might give him an even better advantage based on what we saw during the guest posing this weekend.
This is all just speculation though. For now, the main takeaway is that Derek Lunsford is still the number one competitor to beat at the Men’s 212 Olympia later this year. A lot can change over the next seven months, so nothing is set in stone. But this offseason physique was so impressive – many will hype Lunsford further for the rest of this season.
Big Ramy Shares Physique Update, Announces Guest Posing Appearance At Pittsburgh Pro
Big Ramy vows to bring the best version of himself to this year’s Olympia.
The race for No. 3 is on for Big Ramy and he believes he will bring the best version of himself to the 2022 Olympia. The reigning two-time Olympia champion is not one for social media but recently shared a physique update to show off his progress to this point. Big Ramy also announced that he will be at the Pittsburgh Pro as a guest poser.
Big Ramy took to Instagram to share this update and speak to his fans. He outlined how it is difficult to keep up some of this progress during Ramadan but that is something he has dealt with for years now. He has done it successfully winning back-to-back Olympia titles in 2020 and 2021. The show will return to Las Vegas in December and this is where Big Ramy will go for the three-peat.
The Pittsburgh Pro will take place on May 7 this year. Big Ramy also explained how he is excited to return to the United States and appear on stage during the show as a guest.
“New Update from April 17th! I know I haven’t been very active on social media lately and I apologize to all of you for that. From now on you’ll see more of me I promise you guys. This update is from yesterday and I want to post them to let you all know I’m training and putting in the work,” big ramy wrote in his caption.
“It’s not easy during Ramadan but I know my job is to get it done regardless of not eating and drinking as much as usual. My goal for this years Olympia is to present the best Big Ramy ever and that is why I’m working very hard. I’m looking forward to coming to the USA to guest pose at the Pittsburg Pro May 7th 2022. Thank you all for your continued support I really appreciate it so much. Now let’s go for No 3.”
The Men’s Open division has been dominated by the likes of Big Ramy, Brandon Curry, and Hadi Choopan. This was the top three in last year’s competition. Up-and-comers like Nick Walker and Hunter Labrada also have their eyes on making a jump and taking down Big Ramy.
Entering the 2021 show, Big Ramy was seen as unbeatable because of his pure size and conditioning. Now, he continues to be a mass monster and believes that he can show up to Vegas even better than he looked in Orlando. If this happens, it will be tough once again for competitors to top his physique.

Big Ramy
Big Ramy is your most recent Olympia champion, taking home the title in 2021 and defending his win from 2020. He earned his pro card in 2012 and has been a force ever since. His calves are massive and lend credence to his back-to-back Olympia wins, on top of all the other muscles he works incredibly hard.
Brandon Curry
Brandon Curry took home Mr. Olympia’s top prize in 2019, preceding Big Ramy. Curry was a football player early in his career and since transitioning to bodybuilding has made his name as an incredible muscular specimen. With a killer workout plan, his calves are ones to envy and show just what it takes to continue to compete at a high level.
Kai Greene
Kai Greene is a well-known bodybuilder who loves to have fun while also looking huge. He has quite a few runner-up finishes, but that hasn’t stopped him from being anything short of dominant. Starring in Generation Iron, fans got to see how he works out and how his revolutionary approach to bodybuilding has produced massive calves.

Jay Cutler
Jay Cutler is a four-time Olympia winner and someone to envy for he is absolutely massive. Phil Heath
Phil Heath is a huge name in bodybuilding with seven Olympia wins under his belt. His overall physique has earned him the reputation of being one of the most muscular men on the planet and by the looks of his calves, together with his overall physique, it is no wonder why. Heath remains a massive name and one that both aspiring and professional bodybuilders look up to.

William Bonac
William Bonac is incredibly humble, an impressive trait considering his monster calves. He is always in the top finishing spots in competitions, and he continues to live up to his nickname as “The Conqueror” while remaining a down-to-Earth competitor. Although he may fall short of those top podium spots, his physique, and especially his calves, are not ones to take lightly.
Chris Bumstead
Chris Bumstead is an absolute force in the Classic Physique division with three Olympia wins. His shredded physique is impressive, but so too are his calves. His workouts prove that he is constantly challenging himself to see the best gains possible.

Dorian Yates
Dorian Yates, or known by some as the original mass monster, revolutionized bodybuilding with his intense style of training and sheer will to lift massive amounts of weight. A six-time Olympia winner, Yates is considered one of the best in the sport among many of the other top names we all know and love. When he turns around, especially in his prime, his calves are huge and incredibly hard to miss.
Hadi Choopan
Hadi Choopan turns around and the first thing you see are those strong and impressive calves. His resume is extensive and his will to win is something to be feared. His approach to training is one that keeps him at a high level and he never neglects those calf muscles, thus giving him the ability to continue to stalk the stage with these other bodybuilding giants.
Nick Walker
Nick Walker, like all on this list, has an impressive bodybuilding resume and recently joined the list of those big names to win the Arnold Classic. He loves machine exercises and that lends credence to the sheer size of his massive calf muscles and lower body as a whole. Known as “The Mutant”, he is not one to be messed with when it comes to comparing muscle size.

Jordan Shallow’s Analysis: What Regan Grimes Needs To Become Olympia Champion
Jordan Shallow believes that Regan Grimes simply needs one thing to become an Olympia champion… time and patience.
Regan Grimes has been a promising bodybuilder with an extremely focused mission to become an Olympia champion. His recent move to working with Milos Sarcev signaled just how serious he is about pushing his physique to the next level. There’s no doubt that Regan has been on the tip of everyone’s tongue over the past years – but he has yet to upgrade to that next level. In our latest GI Exclusive interview, The Muscle Doc, Jordan Shallow, shares his analysis on what Regan Grimes needs to become an Olympia champion.
Jordan Shallow is called The Muscle Doc for a reason. And that’s because he is a very knowledgable individual on all things muscle, weightlifting, and bodybuilding. While he’s not a bodybuilding guru per se, he has been an avid fan of professional bodybuilding for quite some time. That combined with his health and fitness knowledge make him a valuable resource of analysis for the present and future of bodybuilding. That’s why we decided to ask him about the hype behind Regan Grimes – and what the future may hold for his career.
Regan Grimes is a pro bodybuilder who has been on an extended hype train. In some ways, his journey is similar to Big Ramy. He continues to turn heads with each year – but ultimately fails to upgrade to that next level when it really counts – at the Mr. Olympia. That’s not to say he is a slouch of a competitor. In fact, the constant hype behind him shows just how impressive his physique is – it just needs that final push into champion status. The same was said for years with Big Ramy until his victories in 2020 and 2021.
So what does Regan Grimes need to go to the next level. With Big Ramy it was always clear – he needed to improve his conditioning. For Grimes it may be the opposite. His conditioning is often fantastic – but his size might not match up to the likes of someone reigning as champion the size of Big Ramy.
Jordan Shallow believes that there is not one specific thing Regan Grimes is doing wrong that needs improvement. In fact, he believes that Grimes is doing everything right. His latest decision to train under Milos Sarcev further proves that point. It shows that – A: Milos sees enough promise in him to spend time training Regan and B: that Regan is ready to push himself to the next level with a legendary trainer such as Milos.
So with that in mind, Jordan Shallow believes that Regan Grimes simply needs time. He’s young, still in his twenties and has plenty of time to gain further muscle maturity, experience, and growth. Big Ramy, by contrast, is in his late thirties. Shallow believes that time will simply benefit Grimes’ physique. Not only that, but the sport itself may also change over the coming years. Eventually Big Ramy will either step down or be taken down from Olympia champion status. Perhaps Grimes will not be the first one to do that. But perhaps when he is ready – the sport will look different than it does today.
ABOVE: Regan Grimes showcasing his recent physique three weeks out from the Arnold Classic 2022.
In that regard, Jordan Shallow doesn’t believe that Regan Grimes needs to pack on 300 pounds of muscle in order to win the Olympia. He just needs patience, focus, and continued hard work with someone like Milos Sarcev. In time, just like with Ramy over the past decade, Grimes’ strengths will become unstoppable.

Stanimal weighs in on the prospective bodybuilders who can possibly defeat Chris Bumstead or Big Ramy in the near future.
Stanimal De Longeaux has the distinction of competing in the Classic Physique division and later moving into Mens Open. So during our latest conversation – we wanted to know his take and analysis on both the current Classic Physique and Men’s Open Olympia champions. Both Big Ramy and Chris Bumstead seem near unstoppable. Is there anyone in each division who stands a chance of taking down one of them in the near future? In our latest GI Exclusive, Stanimal shares his thoughts on who can defeat Chris Bumstead and Big Ramy at the Olympia.
Both Chris Bumstead and Big Ramy have one major thing in common. Not only are they both reigning Olympia champions, they both are held in high regard as nearly unstoppable compared to their competition. Will Bumstead and Ramy both be reigning Olympia champions for years to come?
We asked this very question to Stanimal in our latest video conversation. Having trained as both a Classic Physique and Men’s Open bodybuilder – he can bring in his direct insight as to who has the goods to take down Chris Bumstead or Big Ramy. Is there anyone who can challenge them in the immediate future? 2022? 2023? Or will it take years before someone can muster up the package to take them down?
The glory of sports is that nothing is impossible. Ronnie Coleman, for example, was seen as a non-threat and suddenly transformed over the course of one year. He then became Olympia champion and held onto it for a total of eight Sandows. Many consider Big Ramy and Chris Bumstead untouchable right now. But that doesn’t mean it’s 100% impossible for them to lose.
When it comes to Classic Physique, Stanimal believes the future will come in the form of the Brazilian athletes. He’s seen many rising stars coming from Brazil that, with a little time, can bring in some huge transformation when it comes to the top tier details. He wouldn’t be surprised if the first person to threaten or even take down Chris Bumstead will be from Brazil.
As for Big Ramy, Stanimal believes the most immediate threat is Hadi Choopan. Stanimal is confident that Choopan can be a Mr. Olympia champion. While his height and overall size might be a hurdle to overcome – his high placing shows just how talented and hard working (and genetically superior) he is in the Men’s Open. Small details can bump him up a few placings. He can see Choopan tilting the scales onto his side and taking down Ramy.
Big Ramy may have slipped slightly in 2021 compared to his 2020 first-time Olympia victory. But that may have been a fluke. If Ramy comes back better than last year and even better than his 2020 physique – Stanimal finds it hard to see anyone beating him in 2022 at least. Of course, like all sports. Anything is possible.
